Alternative to GG = Large Fruit (which is wrong, I know)

GG = Grosses Gewächs , (great growth), a designation used by VDP (Wine producing) members in all regions except Mosel and Rheingau to designate top-level dry wines from selected sites. Used by the organisation Bernkasteler Ring for the same purpose in Mosel.

At least that would be more fun.

So, Canadian RS2, in your case, does the VIN and options on this long tag coincide with the VIN on the car?

I told Canadian RS2 to hide the last bit of the VIN on the build tag on purpose. That said you can see the RZ0006??. I did his build tag document and I can confirm (until he does) that the VIN is RZ0006nn. SO no strange stuff there. NO RZ000170 on the long tag vs RZ000587 on the square build tag like Luki.

URS4boy is correct about the VIN numbers matching. All the option codes match what is on the car as well so no stories here.

Thank you, was curious after the poster above mentioned that his long tag VIN is different from the car. So there might be some story there, but he did mention that his trunk tag is existing and matches the car.

I think he said that the trunk/boot tag was RZ000587.

What could help would be the VIN stamped on the cowl and the ARGE plate under the cowl cover.

                Cowl stamp from a 95 RS2:

I understood from what he posted (but I might be wrong) that the VIN numbers on the car (cowl and plate) and the vin number on the trunk tag are all the same, but the VIN on the long tag under the carpet is different, that's what got me curious. I understand there might be all sorts of stories with the car, but if all numbers on the car and on the trunk tag match and only the long tag is different - that would be strange. Anyway, hopefully he can clear this up when he get's a chance.

All I would say is *IF* the ARGE plate VIN matched the stamped cowl VIN and the warranty book build tag VIN and the build tag in the boot all had matching VINs, I would not worry about the long tag. However, IF any one other other 4 seemed dodgy, then I would pass on buying the vehicle as a true RS2.

By the way, maybe this is going off topic, but are there other places on the car, besides those 4 mentioned, with the VIN number? Kind of "hidden" spots to confirm the VIN.

Maybe but not that I am aware of.

Yes all 3 places (under the bonnet, plate, sticker in trunk) are match only the long tag is different which i found under the carpet, maybe someone change the carpet and accidentaly put this tag from another RS2.

My car is 100% RS2 it has everything that RS2 should have.

I don't think we ever doubted the veracity of your "587". It was just that the "170" was a little confusing.

I like your thought about changing the carpet with the one from "170". That would make the most sense. It would be interesting to find out whether the carpet was cut down the middle at the very front of the area behind the console. Not sure about the A80 B4 chassis but with the C4, unless you remove the heater box during a carpet change, the only way to remove the carpet is to slit it in that area and peel it around the heater box. (Assumes that the consoles are out for this task).

I removed carpet with dashboard in the car. Carpet was cutted in the middle at front.
So this story may be true
