Confusion with RS2 VINs and production numbers

Can you take a picture? Where is this long number located?

They look like this one, posted by Dave T (Canadian RS2). In a C4 they are on the underside of the dash, above the heater box (often). In an RS2, I am not sure. There is a chance, based on this story, that they were under the carpet and/or stuck to the carpet in an RS2.

All I would say is *IF* the ARGE plate VIN matched the stamped cowl VIN and the warranty book build tag VIN and the build tag in the boot all had matching VINs, I would not worry about the long tag. However, IF any one other other 4 seemed dodgy, then I would pass on buying the vehicle as a true RS2.

Just a quick note. New Zealand new RS2's dont have ARGE plates. I dont know why? Do South African RS2's have them?

Maybe none of the RHD RS2s have them. I have only seen them in person on LHD RS2s.

If I recall correctly, I found my long tag under the dash while I was running some speaker wire to the dash speakers.

That would make sense, i.e. the normal situation. Still wonder about a tag under the carpet.

On my 1991 Coupe S2, it was under the carpet in front of the passenger seat.

The AAN, ABY and ADU engine serial numbers are all stamped into the head, on the exhaust side, near the front, under the PCV system exit tube from the cam cover.
