Time to have a clear out and concentrate on my RS2.
Here's another one for John and the rest of the old school stereo equipment fans. I put this set up together for my room for a little over £100, the most expensive part being the speakers.
Excuse the photo's my hands are really shaky in the mornings, dam anxiety.

Just stumbled across this thread. That new workshop (with space for four cars in total?) looks stunning and almost certainly the envy of every guy on here with petrol in their veins! Selling stuff can be very hard work, and yes ebay is a pain in the ar53. Whilst we have never met in person Kit, I just wanted to say look after yourself - and that absolutely gorgeous RS2
Thanks Ian, it is indeed a fantastic workshop, once I get a lift installed it'll be where I spend all of my spare time, the RS2 is basically going to live on it for quite a while while I do a lot job's on the underside. Got various bushes to replace, the clutch to change, the brakes to service along with all new flexi hoses to fit and the joyous task of changing the fuel filter just to make it properly road worthy again. There's also a great many other task's to do but they fall more into the category of restoration as opposed to basic maintenance.
It looks much tidier in there now, got all my tool sorted out and 90% of the big stuff on shelves where I want it, still got a few boxes of random fixings and trim to rationalise. Will post some more recent pic's soon but after I broke the rear reflector while polishing the dam thing the other night I've had a bit of a break, it's best I don't carry on working once I've lost my temper. Still it did have a hair line crack anyway and a new one is obtainable for only moderately eye watering money so I've not let it get to me too much. The last couple of days have been spent packaging up eBay items and dealing with people collecting stuff, which I'm very careful about, I don't mind folk from the forum having a look about, however I'm not at all keen on random people knowing what I've got in there. Plus as the weathers been nice I've also been outside slowly stripping the 30 valve C4 and sizing up putting the aircon system on my C4 100.

This is my current setup, was gifted it all from a good friend who’d gone all blue toothed.
Sound quality is better than my old Technics but visually it’s a bit dull

That's some very nice kit there John, as you say better than 1980's Technics stuff but not as pleasing to look at, my photo's really don't do that simple little system of mine justice.
I've always liked Nad amps and Yamaha's stuff is always pretty top draw, the HS8 and HS5 monitor speakers I've got made by them are fantastic, certainly more than good enough for my requirements
I'll have all my system's sorted soon and will take pic's in the evening when I can stop my hands from shaking, I'm terrible in the mornings, I simply can't keep my hands still.

The old Technics needs some TLC as I was starting to lose the sound and had to joogle a switch or two to make both speakers work. For now it’s an ornament....

I’ve bypassed the speaker switches on my NAD, improved the sound enormously, the pots are a bit scratchy, particularly the balance which I could also bypass. Need to get in there and give them another squirt of Cailube!
Oh and I have to press the button then tap the drawer of the Denon 1560 to get it to open, opening mech belt slipping.. proper cobblers shoes my hifi..
As Rikki say's first of all open them up and blow/carefully vacuum all the dust out.
Then clean each pot with switch cleaner, there's one all the hi-fi nerds use, can't remember it's name of the top of my head as I've not need to buy any yet. Though I probably will soon to service all the old bit's of kit I've acquired.
Finally give the head's on the tape deck a clean with iso alcohol and cotton wool bud's.
Bet it then sounds as good as the day you bought it.

Cailube, that's the stuff, nice one John.
Interesting that bypassing the speaker switches has improved the sound, makes sense when you think about it as simplifies the circuit, that's a great tip.

I did that previously (maybe 7 years ago), before it was playing up so it was just a general clean up, I wasn't too thorough. I'll look into getting some "cailube"

Think I'm going to buying some as well, then spend a day doing preventive maintenance on all the old separate's I've got, they all seem to work fine currently but maybe they'll sound even better after a bit TLC.
Off to eBay to have a look.
Tempted give try Johns speaker bypass trick a go on one of my SU-V40 amps as well, as one of the switch's on my first one does crackle occasionally when operated and the more I've thought about the more sense it makes.
Forgot to say, really like the look of your old set up in silver, makes for an extra retro appearance.

I had a quick look on ebay for cailube.....nothing found, will try amazon?
