  • Denmark now has the craziest law if your speeding

Earlier this year Denmark passed a law regarding "insane driving". This law was passed due to extreme speeding within the city limits which resulted in fatalities.

This is among other things specified as driving more then 100% of the max speed limit or a max of 200 km/h on the high way.

If the police stop you, your car will be impounded and sold by the state. You will not get the money and you can get sentenced 30 days or more in jail.

Also if somebody else then you drives the car it will still be impounded and sold. The also applies to rental cars and leased cars.

I live in Denmark and I think this law is crazy, but not all Danes think that.

    Is it me or?

move to Germany or do track days, but that law is mental. but there are idiots who dont know how to drive fast. plus if the situation is too dangerous dont drive so fast.

So if you drop your performance classic off for a service at the dealership/workshop/specialist and some service pleb beans it in a 50km/h limit to 100km/h and gets caught your car gets impounded by the state and sold? Do I understand correctly? If so, that’s just bonkers.

I suppose that's what happens when you live in the EUSSR

It is completely nuts though, I'm glad the UK is a bit more pragmatic, though there is a similar scheme in place for serial offenders/uninsured cars.

Come to Oz where speeding is equivalent to clubbing baby seals, 25km over is immediate loss of license, 40km over is car impounded. Spinning wheels, smoking tyres, street racing etc car may be crushed.

                that's insane

over here if you speed over 100% of the limit, licence is revoked, and you must attend some brainwashing training and after that go back to driving school and take a new exam

the most worrying part of all this, is that it is a zero tolerance a.k.a. brainless rule, no judgement is made on where and in wich conditions you drove fast (empty road at night or was it racing in a busy street). just the cold fact. and no appeal possible.

Danish laws around speeding and traffic offences have always been on the tough side, but this is getting ridiculous...lets just hope it doesn't take more after Australia!!

In Belgium, you can receive a fine if the traffic officer is a pedestrian and he "thinks" you are driving too fast. Not only do they not have to prove how fast you were actually going, they even state they don't know and have no way of knowing... But "too fast..."

that’s not correct (my wife is a policeofficer) keep your enemies close ? , regarding to ghostrider videos and such, you can’t Say who’s riding as they are masked with helmet etc. But of course it’s easier to ”catch” speeders if you can identify them ?

regarding to the danish law I don’t think if your service technician drive it like he stole it will get your car siezed and sold. There will always be circumstances that affects the outcome
