It appears so many good posts in various forums, especially older ones, have been ruined by photobucket removing sharing facility.
Is there anything that can be done to somehow recreate the photo's?
What is the best way of photo/file sharing to use now?

best way for the forum is to attach photo's to your posts, so they are on the forum server.

photo sharing sites have been a pain forever, sooner or later older links will be dead. btdt.
the only safe option is host them on your own webspace with own domain name.

      Jogi,

If you can bulk download you could host yourself, on the forum or your own site. But you would need to update the links on all of your posts

There are a few plugins for Firefox, and probably other web browsers, which will restore the original images in place of the ransom message, they work for now at least!

I had used P'bucket to host pictures on the first two or three pages of RS2 America and the rest were all hosted on the S2forum. Hosting them here to keep everything in one place. I went back and re-linked my pics that were hosted via P'bucket to the gallery here, but after the site update our local gallery is gone. Is the forum gallery out there somewhere and maybe I just need to update my links to the new gallery location? I've searched around and cannot seem to find it.

I agree. Photobucket has somehow ruined the posts because it doens't load the photos. Hope there's a fix to that.

                              Don't delete your account!

For the moment at least, all pictures are still visible with the various add ons available for your web browser, if you delete your account and don't restore the links with a different host, no one will ever be able to view those pictures. I've had the same temptation to delete my account just to make a point to Photobucket, but doing so is making a bad situation worse.
