I've just done mine off the car. I wouldn't want to try it whilst still attached. I used a 10 ton press to remove the bearings and they were tight tight tight. My friend helped and we needed to heat one up before it would budge. The other problem is that when you press in the new bearings, you need to be careful how you put them in. The bearing needs to be supported from behind when the disc carrier is pressed in. Again, this would be difficult if still on the car. My friends press had a gauge and it took 2 ton of pressure to press the bearing into the outer hub. The hub was very clean and lightly oiled. The disc carriers go in quite easily.
Good luck anyway.

I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon
Really
Actually that was the morning, I’ve also repaired both lawnmowers, the wife’s wee Honda pusher (not started for a year)
And the JD ride-on, new battery and puncture repair (tubeless plug, I love those)
Will try and start that in a bit, always difficult to get the fuel though fist time in the year..
I got the disc carrier out and the inner race off.
My press is really just a portapower and angle iron affair, max 2 tons, the outer race wasn’t having it. So I decided to take it to quattro Pete and let him do it.
I see.
All of my old bearings separated. To get the inner section of the bearing off, I very carefully cut into it with a thin cutting disc on the grinder. Not all the way, just enough to get a screwdriver in the slot and clout it so it split. No damage caused, but you need a steady hand with the grinder to do it that way.
My friend with the press is an agricultural engineer with years of experience. He said he had never seen wheel bearings like that before!

Sorry bud, the inner race came off with a bit of levering and a 3 prong puller
It was the outer race that wasn’t moving. I pumped the press till it wouldn’t pump any more and got a bit scared something might break so gave up.
Thought afterwards maybe some heat would have cracked it.
With you now. Yes, one of mine needed heat. Careful what you are using underneath when you are in the press. My friend wouldn't use the lugs as said they might shear. He had a very large socket that fitted around the bearing housing. I'm sure Pete knows what he's doing and will have no problem.

Heat and a tap with a hammer while applying pressure.
make sure you replace the lower bush where it connects to the wishbone. I refreshed all the rear suspension on my RS4 except this one. I recently replaced my rear wheel bearings and the lower bush was fooked. It's not available as a poly. I spoke to powerflex as I had used black poly bushes everywhere else. However they don't do it.
I ended up doing oe ones. I think they are £12 each and you need 4 for both sides. I think I got febi ones and new concentric washer and bolt.
The point I'm making is it looked fine on the car, but was clearly shot.

All the bushes at the back of the car were replaced last year, shame the wheel bearing weren’t done at the same time really.

Polybush is available at AK Motorsport link here -
This is a set (left and right housings) of missing bush that is not sold by Powerflex. If you have a a kit by them you are missing this poliurethane bush in your rear suspension. Polyurethane bushings work ideally in performance suspensions. Rubber suspension bushings are a proven compromise in performance vehicles. Wh
