  • Help - pipe replacement

Hi folks - need some help please....
Has anyone replaced the little rubber pipe under the water manifold/collector. The one on my RS2 was leaking, and I managed to pry it off using a long screw driver as I couldn’t get my hand to the pipe. Now I have no idea how to get the new one on, and hoping someone has done it before and willing to share the best way to get it on. Attached of where the pipe goes - took the pic after removal
    TIA

It's not easy with everything in the way. Unless you have very small hands I'd say it's near impossible doing it with everything in situ.

I remember doing this job and I opted to remove the radiator (i was replacing all the water hoses anyway). It's very easy to remove the radiator on these cars and you will have to bleed the system anyway.

Where did you get the new hose, Aftermarket or audi?

The new pipe is fairly flexible and allows you to bend it to get it on. Push on the longest pipe first and slide it as far as you can so getting it on the other end is easier. Then just centre it so you have equal overlap. Don't forget to put the correct size jubilee clips on first mind! Angle them as the originals or you wont be able to tighten them up.

Thanx Michael S2 - I do have small hands, but not small enough yeah, I think taking off the radiator off would be the only option. I haven't got the pipe yet, but will most likely be aftermarket - I'll go to a pipe specialist kinda place. I did this job maybe 6 or 7 years ago, and for the life of me cannot remember what I did then
Appreciate the feedback Tractor Dave - I get what you're saying about the pipe being flexible, but getting the rubber connector/pipe onto the metal pipes is the challenge.
Cheers - I will post on progress, maybe this coming week-end

Taking the intake off is the easiest for you - as you have the radiator shroud still in place, you will need to remove the intake anyway, and drain the PAS circuit also in order to remove the rad and AC condenser.

Error404 - for some reason my complete response, via tapatalk using my mobile was not posted?
You making me nervous , I can get around with the basics but taking off the intake might be a bit beyond me , but I think you're right, it will easier to get that pipe on.
Alternatively I will get my wife to help......here hands are definitely much smaller then mine
I hope to get a pipe and do the replacement over the week-end and revert here
              Cheers guys

Tapatalk deleted everything after the word nervous because you inserted a phone emoticon. This happened a few time for me before I sorted it out. If you want to use a smiley you have to type it

Pipe is on and so far no leaks. Removing the radiator et al was too daunting....
I hooked the pipe to a hard (hangar wire) wire and put the pipe in place and used a long screwdriver to move it into either ends of the 2 metal pipes and tightened the clamps. I had to move the power steering pump for a bit more space.
Unfortunately no pics, needed both my hands.

                    Cheers for the input chaps
