Not very happy cars hurt

Went to heathrow bout a 220 mile round trip for me today to pick up a friend and was about 5 miles from home and this happened





We pulled up at the round about waiting for cars to move then just as we went to pull away the car behind thought i already had pulled away and drove into the back of my car. really not happy needs a rear panel, bumper, light lens and number plate surround and the exhaust has heen hit and dented the lip and now it bangs on the diff and and the underside before it goes over the diff. do you think the repairers will get another exhaust made for the car or if they will try to repair it.

Spoke 2 the insurance and they have aranged a hire car 2 be dropped to my house tommorow and im going to have a look at there approved repairer to see if im happy for them 2 work on my car, we have got a VAG approved bodyshop at my work but the insurance want me to pay my excess of £750 before i take it there which i can claim back which i cant afford at the mo. but i wont take any **** with my car if it aint right it will be going back

Regarding the exhaust, tell them you want a new one, not something bodged up!

Sorry to hear that, seems a few cars atm getting that treatment so might be good to keep an eye on how andy casey gets on with the insurance.

The will probably try to fix it from what I know but might go for a new one depending how easily/cheap it will be.

Don't give them the car.
Take it where it needs to go for inspection etc. yourself.
Otherwise you will be told it's a right off and if you want to buy it back they will tell you that the storage charges are £50 (or something as stupid) per day.

yeah was gunna take it there 2morrow so i can explain every thing i have had it on the ramp the exhaust doesnt look bent but definutly not right as it bangs and goes. the exhaust was a powerflow so build to fit perfect

I cant see them writing it off it has pushed the panel right in to the boot and the windscreen has a crack now

If it's not agreed value insurance, you need to find what they value the car at.

i havent got agreed value but when got the quote in i said its value was £6000 but been told that means nothing

What would everyone say its value was. I have kept it as mint as i can just buy bits every month not even if it needs changing just because its old if u get what i mean its on 150000 and its a late ABY

What it's worth and what value they put on it aren't the same unless it's agreed value.
Ask them and let us know.

Did you get the details of the car who hit you? Are they insured? Their insurers will be the ones who pay as you should claim off them.

Don't give anyone you car, it's yours to do with as you wish. Get a proper valuation from a garage you trust. Do not give into demands from the insurance company that you get it done at one of their "approved" repairers, all that means is it's a body shop they have a cheap deal with.

As to an actual valuation, I'd say anything from £3000-£5000 depending on age and condition these days.
