ARP Mains studs do NOT fit

    Guys,

I have here brought from arrow a set of mains studs to fit the 5cyl. P/N 204 5404

They are confirmed to be correctly packaged and verified with length of 85mm.

Now here's the problem (illistrated in my spare block )

    What do you say......

The stud is finger tight in the block, i am currently having to chase arrow and its a pita

I will keep this thread update so no one else's falls short here

How do the thread lengths of the original bolts and the studs compare?

well out as you factor in that the OEM studs go into the block 19mm and ARP like theres to go 26mm

        That's just too short then!

Looks to me like they'll be getting exchanged for some longer ones...

Are the shells the same for all the different I5 engines or do some have reduced shoulder heights?

Thats the plan but talking with them is like ....

I am pretty sure the main caps are all the same size, the two blocks i have here are any way.

Its a shame, its slowed the work down "fore... shore"

Just for reference, this is what they should look like.

Not sure of the part number as I got them from 034, also has the one shorter one to stop the one way valve getting crushed.

Andy, any chance you can get the number off the box?

Sorry the box is long gone. I've a feeling that these are not an Audi fitment, I think 034 use the BMW studs and then shorten one themselves as the end is not black but silver where it has been machined.

                            Is it carpeted though?

Anyway back on topic, the studs I have are:-

11off @ 110mm long. 35mm thread on block end and 25mm of fine thread for the nut.
1off @ 95mm long. 20mm thread on block end and 25mm of fine thread for the nut.

As you can see it looks like the stud has been shortened by 034 and not ARP.
