the reason some of them rust is because they use steel welding wire rather than stainless .

thats just bad workmanship...comes down to good housekeeping... all the tools and equipment used for ss fabrication must not be contaminated by using them on other types of metal eg. mild.

Just accept there will be surface rust after time, heat cycling and salty roads aren't good for any metals.

Dont bother with chrome, just polish the tips one a month.

                They are not cheap.

Paying a high price does not guarantee quality of work

I could give you numerous examples of such including ex sponsors and famous MTM dealers.

But in RS fabrications case yes they are quality i'm just highlightling be prepared to pay for it!

I've got a single cat MIJ system on my V6, had it on there years no rust. I had to replace one of the rubbers no so long ago but phoned Maz at MIJ and he sent one that day. (he's got a modified S3 but selling to get a B5 RS4). £550.00 on a full turbo back system is a good price if you ask me.

After seeing Dougs I was thinking of getting a 3" RS fabrication system on the S2, went with a certain ex sponsors tho, am pleased with it, top notch job!! (I think the neighbours would say otherwise tho if i leave the house early! )

must say i cannot fault my quattronics 3 inch system. the workmanship is better than any i have seen. its not the 034 one they were selling but the custom made one.

Why not get a Milltek from Quattro Corner? Same cost fitted and they're very well made.

ask yourself the question do you want out and out power or a nice sound with longer life.

the noise of some of the better performance systems may be too much. mine for instance seems fairly quite to me, my mates say its not. at 1600rpm i get a resonance vibe. think its due to the bigger turbo. over 4k it sounds like a bike or somfink.

power and silence dont come hand in hand

cheers for ur comments, i spke to rs fabrication today and they quote me the folllowing-

Fully gas Purged and Tig Welded.

3” Downpipe 304 Stainless Steel with flex joint

+ Wastegate Pipework & Lambda Bungs

3” twin box exhaust System 304 Stainless Steel

Fully gas Purged and Tig Welded. [Choise of Tail Pipes]

                                totoal around £2400 plus vat

which looking at there work the price relates to there work, which is top knoch! it is a bit much but that not the problem! but the question why rs fabrication ?????
