Heat is OK as long as you are careful... Shock treatment with a hammer is also a good trick along with good penetrating oil. I would remove the rods entirely to give them a good soak, then work on a bench vice for best results.

carefuly heat the track rods up in a vice then spray the threaded area with this and it causes the threaded section to shrink slightly freeing up the seized threads....

ok - i have no access to a vice, so the rods will need to remain on the car so i have some chance of holding them steady.

Got some GT85 yesterday evening and dug out the blow torch.
Going to use some foil as a heatshield around any delicate bits nearby, heat each rod and give it a try.

If i still have no joy i'm going to try taking them off, heating them up in the oven slowly, then use some freeze spray.... I guess i'll see how it goes

Wire brushing the threads up will make it easier aswell, an oven will not help as the whole thing is heated uniformly. The idea of a blow torch is to expand the nut faster than the threaded rod, as rust wont streatch it just cracks and crumbles. If you heat the rod and nut in an oven there will be no benefit, cos both parts expand uniformly and the rust still grips.
Once they're off and overhaulled get a role of denso tape after they have been set up, wrap denso tape around the whole assembly on the car. denso tape lasts donkeys years and is impervious to water, salt, grit,--everything, even a jet wash if wrapped well. Its what they use on pier warricks which are exposed to the sea for life.

Tried two motor factors today for these QR5005S adjusters - neither deal with QH so couldn't help me. Looks like I can't buy direct from QH either. Seen them for sale on-line with some German autopart places but thats just too complicated. Who can source four of these locally and post them onto me ?

only 18 months too late Rich

blow torch and stilsons sorted my issue in the end, then I fitted now rod adusters with loads of copper slip and still easily adjusted them the other day, after a few thousand mileson the road

Seriously though, if you can apply a bit of shock without damageing anything, then this will also help to free the threads up along with WD40/GT85, plus heat, as allready mentioned.

Surely thats a typo, you mean dremel right?

I've got this to look forward to in December, got hold of a couple of new threaded bars for the steering arms so will free up and replace existing mashed up ones.

The QH bars were on back order for months last year so I ended up getting a machine shop to make some.

Still got a few kicking around

Read a test report about penetrating oils done in the US, they used heavily rusted nuts and bolt test pieces. In a nutshell the dry piece took 500ft/lbs to undo, the one with WD40 took 250ft/lbs and the one where they used 50:50 Acetone and ATF mixture came apart with a mere 50ft/lbs.
