    A4 rear discs question

A mate of mine had new discs put on the back of his A4 for the MOT, when he got the bill there were bearings on it too. So do the wheel bearings get trashed when you fit new discs?

No A4 discs have the bearings included in the disc assembly. Strange but true.

      Rear A4 discs

On old A4 1995 -1998 ,they had to fit bearings in rear disc( like old MK2 golf gti), unlike later A4
was quicker/cheaper to fit new bearings ,than mess around with old bearings(workshop time keeping)

      my 2 cents worth

      cheers

Yes I can confirm that as well - very odd 1st time you see it... The disc acts as bearing carrier at the rear on the FWD B5.

Just used these to convert the rear of the FWD 80 TDi to five stud.
The disc is the hub, all in one. Bearings are pressed into the disc/hub.

I've heard of that being done - I had a fresh pair of rear A4 discs that I sold onto a guy here for a 5-bolt conversion on an 80 of some sort. I thought he was a bit mad at first, but seemingly this is a well trodden path

Common in VW circles to change to 5 stud - VR6 rear discs - Fronts are a bit more involved tho............................................... ...
