    Your favourite roads to drive

After a quick scan with the search button I couldn't really find any other threads the same, but apologies in advance if this has been done before. I thought that people could stick up their favourite roads that they enjoy taking their S2 for a run along, as well as any reasons that make the road stand out.

    I'll get the ball rolling:

A87 from Portree to Invergarry(for going to Glasgow) or A87 onto the A887 if going to Inverness - when it is quiet it has some amazing corners and brilliant views, I'd rather go this way than the quicker Achnasheen north road just for the fun of hucking into all of those corners.

A82 from Invergarry to the A86 to Dalwhinnie for much as such reasons as above. Although it's a bit dodgy in the winter.

    A9 - only joking, it's crap!

You'd never guess that I'd put 1300 miles on the S2 in the last fortnight blasting about the North of Scotland!

    Cheers

well last year i took my Volvo on this beach at Brean

Map multiple locations, get transit/walking/driving directions, view live traffic conditions, plan trips, view satellite, aerial and 3d imagery. Do more with Bing Maps.

and from there to weston-super mare there is a great 2-3mile stretch of country lane. its one of the best ive driven!

failing that, anything is cornwall is good!

B974 Banchory to Fettercairn aka the 'Cairn'O'Mount'

Bends, bumps, straights and jumps. Hard right over bridge and on to 100+ (kmh of course officer) on a single track which rises to 1400ft. Back to near sea level in less than 2 miles with hairpins and steep drops at the verge.

I've beaten a GSXR 1100 on this road in a 1.6 Primera, and as an 1100 bike rider myself, I can understand why. Point and squirt merchants need not apply...

                ok got a few;

B1224, between York and Wetherby. One of the corners reminds me of the corkscrew at laguna seca

abbey road, runs between Shepshed and Coalville. Awesome fun if you enjoy air time

The A59. I once drove the entire length of this road from York to Liverpool. Made a detour to Blackpool on the way. Fantastic drive especially through the Yorkshire Dales.

A512 from Loughborough to Ashby. Long sweeping bends but with vicious kerbs and tyre killing sand paper tarmac on the tighter corners.

                The A924 near Pitlochry. Hills!

Hardknott and Wyrnose passes in the lake district. A41 Aylesbury - Bicester when there's no other traffic on it.

                            A86 Speen Bridge to Dalwhinnie.

Always good fun, especially when you get a coach coming in the opposite direction

The A5074 aka The Lyth Valley is probably my favourite: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl...20477&t=h&z=12

It goes from the shore of lake windermere at Bowness to the Gilpin Bridge pub next to the A590, which is conveniently a direct route from my house to where the gf works

You get a very different drive depending on which direction you are heading, but it is a very good sequence of flowing bends, tight off-camber blind bends with a loose road surface and a couple of long straights, one of which must be 1/4 mile, all of which have dry stone walls lining the road

They have actually just re-surfaced 1/2 of this road which makes it almost the Nurburgring in Cumbria!
