Thats actually a 993tt but dressed up as a wideboy GT2, they look awesome don't they. The actual proper 993GT2s RWD power is just tooooo damn silly for the roads, especially our wet Uk roads!!

There is only one 911 I would have and thats the 997 GT3-RS. Failing that, I would go for the Cayman Call me Susie Brown but I think they are excellent cars and the potential to embarrass more expensive 911s is the icing on the cake.

I might be tempted by an older 911, but if I was going to buy a classic it would be a 914 with a few choice mods:mischeif:

964s are expensive to maintain as every service means an engine out, also failure of the little rubber belt between the 2 dizzys results in big holes in one piston. I had a 3.6 996 and now have a 997 3.8S and am biased so as an everyday car chose the 996. But if it is the real 911 experience you want go for the 993 every day. You feel connected to the engine, wheels, everything... The noise is everywhere and the handling is telepathic, you have never really driven a car on the throttle until you had caned a well sorted 993.

why do you have to take the engine out?

even on the 12plug cars you can still service them insitue

admitte that front plug under the powersteering put is a ****, and on the 993's the silly oil filter thats burried lol

i have never taken an engine out to service it tho

The 964 engine out for service is a bit of an urban myth, as mentioned, it is possible but you need to take exhaust system off to get right in there for the tappets. On 993 its got hydraulic tappett adjustment tho.
