I also read the article on this.He had to put the v8 in to make it road legal in the NL i think.He did build it with a 5 pot to start with.Very nicely done.

That one looks to be out of a B6/B7 S4 which are 40v. Are the weights you quoted dry or wet? They take 9 litres of oil!AFAIK all 4.2s are ally, did a bit of reaserch and found that the ABZ (32v) is around 17kg heavyer than an ABY, the later 40v is only 2kg heavyer due to a few magnesium parts and chain timed. either way nothing to write home about, less than a batterery i'd guess......not too sure how much a batt weighs tho lol...

I'm not sure 4 or 5 kg of oil would make a big difference!
The V8 sits further back in the engine bay which improves weight distribution a bit, and has none of the heavy ancilliaries you get with a 20vt.
Dare I say it, a better solution for 350 odd ponies

the weights i calculated were wet weights based on Hillys ABZ then others on specs i found on motorgeeks and all sorts.....could well be inacurate but it puts them roughly in the same ball park. And i'm not getting involved in an I5 Vs V8 debate, thats a loosing battle on a forum dedicated to the I5 lol end of the day if it came with a good engine...why change it?? but if you have to.....why not experiment??
