Phwoar. This engine is going to be a stunner! Hopefully they'll make a longitudinal version and team it up with a Torsen equipped drivetrain - that way it can go in a proper car!

I have the feeling this engine could be as legendary as the 1.8T although unfortunately it's going to be more of a "premium" engine so unfortunately it will never gain the same popularity or dedicated following.

Couple of things... I hardly think the 1.8T has 'legendary' status in the big scheme of things - popular and easily tunable perhaps - but our 20V I5 engine is the true legend !

Am I the only person who reads 'Tifosi' everytime I see a "TFSI" badge ?

I'm with paul on this one, the 1.8T motor has never done it for me,not only that but I'm seen a few and heard of many that have gone wrong with not many miles on them, unlike the old "Bombproof" I5 .

180kg is not any lighter thn our pig iron block 20vt engines? How is that right?

            nice carbon goodies though

The RS5 is apparently out this autumn with the TT V10 out of the RS6

I also thought that Audi had dropped TFSi in favour of TSi badging now (despite it being nothing to do with the TSi Turbo/Supercharger engine such as the 1.4 170bhp as used in the Golf GT).

was thinking the same, when i think alloy 4 pots i think 100-130kg, so you would expect alloy 5 be about 20% more so 120-160kg, hopefully more around the lower side there

hum twin turbo v10, i think i will buy one those someday

IIRC apparently the I5 block comes from the american Golf rabbit and if it fits in a Golf V it should fit in a TT.

But then, Audi claimed the 3B made 309 Nm @ 1950 RPM.

Nice figures. But in my opinion, the TT is not the right car for bringing back the I5 turbo. I don't like TT
