2.7 bi turbo into an s2 coupe?

    Evening gents,
I know someone thinking about putting a 2.7 bi turbo engine from an S4 into a 3B. Any idea of what will be involved in this, just to give him an idea of what kind of scale of totalmentalness it would be?
The alternative is getting his hands on an A4 quattro to put it in, effectively making another S4 really.

    Any thoughts appreciated

    cheers

Someone done it before... longtime back though.

I think a V6 CQ might be a better starting point - right engine mounts welded in the engine room for starters... and that 2.7 V6 lump is broadly the same package as 2.8 NA V6 - but with different internals and small matter of two wee turbos.

I know a guy here in The Netherlands that has a 2.7BiT in his coupe V6, he said he won't do it again.

        300hp is easier to fit.

Thanks lads. I personally think it's a bit mental but he has the offer of the 2.7 engine (RS4 he has told me) and wants to use it for something.

Patrick, have you any idea if the process was documented on a forum anywhere to give us an idea of how crazy it was? I'm guessing you'd need to change the gearbox, diff, suspension, wiring loom, brakes, fuel pump... just for starters.

Bry, that's a beautiful sight to see. stevie dubbedup just got an A8 4.2 quattro and that's a sweeeet engine. Maybe I'll suggest he sticks it in a cq and see if his missus strangles me?

Paul - I had a bit of a search and couldn't find a tale of it being done before. I'll maybe look again.

            Rob - WTF is that?

That would be an S2 Coupe with a 2.7 BiTurbo engine from an RS4. Someone was mad enough to make this a reality.

put it in the back with water cooling, oil cooling and fuelcell in the front. source the gearbox from an r8 somebody should have crashed one by now, that would be a nice project

Absolutely no point in putting it into an A4 quattro.. just go and buy an S4! However, I like the idea of it going into a CQ/S2. No point wrecking an S2 though.

there is almost no documentation of his project unfortunately, only pictures of the finished project.

Now THAT sounds like an epic plan. Bet the gearbox would cost about the same as an S2 though

I agree. He'll end up changing so much he'd be better starting with a cheap cq. If he goes to this kind of lengths I'd think a full respray would be on the cards too

Jamo - cheers, i'll have a nosey mate

I know Wiz is going to hate me for this, but I decided to follow my dream so I decided to install the 1.8t in my brother's B4, and I picked up a 2.7t for my 90 CQ. I don't have too much time on my hands, with three running projects at once, but I really do plan on starting the CQ project this...
