  • Audi parts experience - Trade Part Specialists

Well I couldn't put it off any longer. I had to visit my "local" Audi dealer to get some bits n bobs. It didn't get off to a good start as its been so long since I have been there, I didn't know they had relocated. More inconvenience!
Anyway, found it on some barely completed business park. I was meeted and greeted and I think the women was genuinely shocked that I wanted to purchase some spare parts. A phone call was made and somebody was summoned from the depths to attend to me. After about 15 mins of RS6 drooling, a nice man appeared with a pad. I had already taken the precaution of listing everything and he seemed happy to use that information. Said the parts would probably be in tomorrow, so we will see whether the NLA raises its ugly head.
I suppose I am a bit alarmed that there is no dedicated desk with a terminal so that if you didn't have access to the information you could, like the old days at least point it out on the screen. Additionally there is no way of telling whether it is still available.
Just wondering what other peoples experience is. Bring back Vag Parts!

I agree totally - and when you go into the show room wearing your scruffs, they look down their noses at you like you're a piece of sh i te.

Isn't the door to the Audi part dept. the one labelled exit?

I had to leave Bristol Audi after becoming so enraged (not a usual trait I must add) that I decided that it was easier to give up than continue to be served by the least helpful person I've ever had the misfortune to encounter. This was after a 10+ minute wait while people basically ignored me and didn't even enquire if I was being served(!) and once I was served, I was told my car didn't exist (I took the woman to the car park and showed her that my car did indeed exist). Shme really as the bloke I'd seen the week before was very useful...

Of course, if the NLA issue does raise its head then please let us know over on NLA, also, if the Audi department in question show excellent service then let us know too so that others might enjoy the same treatment!

          .

Parklands in Gloucester still have a parts department and door to it...ok round the side and no access from the showroom. Stops the grease monkeys spoiling the car seats...

Still got the computer and screen and always helpfull with the wee bits i'm always buying.

Must be the exception to the rule...

On the look out for less bits for my s2 saloon project. Now supporting myself by shooting for my food. www.airgunforum.co.uk

Will report back on the service! Although there must be a corporate memo about the way to treat customers wanting spares! Must admit I was on the verge of leaving myself, but as there is absolutely no alternative to the bits I want, what can you do.
Strangely, the local French horrible things dealer was much more hospitable when I had a cheap MOT. I had a comfortable chair, choice of newspapers and beverages and a big tv to watch. I suppose Audi could have at least offered a seat if they knew it was going to be a long wait! But as someone else has pointed out, I guess they didn't want my grubby backside on their plush furniture!

Oh well. RIP VAG Parts. Perhaps if we all paid UK dealer prices from them for UK goods they could rise from the ashes!

Have had experience at Audi Croydon and Swindon. Both were helpfull enough and Swindon had a screen on the parts desk which is helpfull, didnt have any real issues at either but then was armed with part numbers which helps, also was just parts for the 80 at the time...

I've found that my parts purchasing experience is a lot less painless when I have the part numbers in hand.

I live over an hour away from my dealer so a while back I asked my local dealer for his part dept. email addy. I email them my parts list and then notify me once they have arrived. I drive over and pick them up during the week when I'm in town. Just an idea.

Audi Derby used to have the screen..."side door" for the riff raff and a bit of knowledge...

Nottingham Audi...well now there is another story....I reluctantly went down to pick up some G12 coolant....only to be finally served by the most grumpiest, borderline rude, assistant ever....he then proceeded to disappear into the back and return with said item...."8.82 please"...so I know have the dilemma, do I pay by card and make this numpty work or pay with cash....I decided pay up and get out..... so then he starts b1tching about having no change....I was ready to tell him to keep it along with a few other choice words, when he says take it...he'll charge it to the workshop...
so I grabs me coolant a 'do one' out the door pronto...normally it's the usually "you want a part??...and to do-it-your-self expresion on their faces.."

Wayside Audi in Bletchley....nightmare order one thing get something completely different....

It would appear they are getting worse.....

I started using Notts Audi when Leics Audi got too tedious, being equidistant from both. Was pleased to see they have a screen on the desk and an actual car park unlike Leicester, although I almost laughed out loud when I first walked in to see the guy behind the desk had been transfered from Leicester.

                          He wasn't laughing though.

It is much easier when you just have a list of part nos.

Teeside Audi = Brilliant. Can't say a bad word about them. I've even had a coffee and biscuits.

Wearside Audi = Massive PANTS. Clueless, rude and extremely unhelpful.

Thats a good idea, but i think if you suggest trying that with a uk dealer they would spit feathers along with their dummy.
