    What would you do???

My brother is looking at selling his UR Quattro which has had an S2 Engine fitted with a RS2 Turbo. Now im in a dilemma If i was to sell my S2 he will sell me the UR for the same money, as long as i keep him on the insurance so effectively be part owners. Here is the spec of the two cars:
    Firstly the UR Quattro:
    -Complete Full Respray
    -Konis and H&R Springs
-S2 engine fitted with RS2 turbo running approx 300hp with potential to go higher with a few extra parts
-AP Racing front breaks which were over 1k
-Full Cream Leather interior fitted in good condition
-Mileage i think is just over 120k
-He has spent around 15k to get it up to standard most of which by QST

    Now the S2:
-RS2 Turbo, Manifold, Injectors, Intercooler, Crossmember and Paul's RS2 Chip (just fitted with new WGFV, Mark H Mod)
    -Front bumper just been resprayed
-Koni's and H&R's fitted less than 500miles ago
-Brand new cambelt and tentioners less than 10 miles ago
    -New belts all round
-HI-Spec Monster 4 pot calipers on the front
    -Audi B5 S4 Wheels
-Longlife 3'' exhaust with cat bypass pipes

So what do u think i should do? Both need a little money spent on them as there are some niggly things to do (What car this age hasnt) but both are in really good condition. Given the choice what would you do?

Sort of depends whether you want the refinement and subtlety of the S2 or the more obvious, raucous UR. I'd love a UR BUT have become attached to the S2 over the years.

If the two cars are in similar condition then there's no contest for my heart though... Strip the S2 down, sell it stock and get the UR. Of course that might not be what you wanted to hear

My thinking is a 350-380hp UR will be quicker and more agile than the S2? What do u think? However i am attached to my S2!

You only have to look at D Jones's quattro performance figures to see the weight advantage. The S2 is a nice car but it's not a UR... Will be difficult to give up the S2 but what a replacemet!

I'd talk him into keeping it till you can afford to buy it without the sale of your S2

The S2 is more comfortable and more practical (if you care) Parts are still available, many parts for the URs are NLA, clips seals trim etc, its very frustrating, you get a problem with the brakes it can easily cost a grand to sort it out..
I drive my S2 more than my UR, I love the UR and it makes me smile and or giggle when I drive it but I still drive the S2 every day and its got 220k on it now.

Hmm thats a good point John. Its a hard decision. The reason why i was seriously considering it, is because, he has put so much effort and money getting it to what it is, it would be a shame to see it go without really having a good few proper years of driving enjoyment from it.

well sort of. he is not skint and not going to struggle if he does not sell, but it has not been used for probably about a year or so now as he has a family and has been doing his house up so does not have the time. Seems stupid having it sitting there not being used.

Have to agree there, although the parts situation is starting to affect the S2 now too. Weight difference is very noticeable though. My 290 ish bhp feels no slower (when its not in limp mode) than a 350bhp S2 I drove last year...The Ur would definately be a weekend car now whereas the S2 can still be an everyday machine....for now!
Down to personal taste and how your bank balance is, one of each would be ideal.

Well i have just put an ad up for the S2. If it does not sell then i have not lost anything. I do like the S2 a lot so im not bothered either way. Im still carryingon with my S2 project unless its sold

Oh 'eck - that is a tough call... An RS2+ spec UR would be nice and quick alright... Its ~300kg lighter and slightly lower to the ground. Would be great fun - only downside being the much more severe NLA issues on the UR with dopey things like trim, seals & such.

UR is the reaper, S2 is the sleeper...

i've still got loads of spares for type 85's but no one seems interested, i'm even thinking of scrapping the car with all the bits just to get some space. Fed up walking around yet another load of car parts.

If it was me Ur quattro any day of the week.
