he asked me the same question I gave the same reply! Still miss my explosif...Kona wins hands down, Diamond Back are pretty good to. The best thing to do is go and try the bikes out if you can then that will give you the best idea, i guess you looking for mostly comfort ATM. One thing i have always said to people is get disc brakes if you can that will make a huge difference

Think the diamond back won in the end. Hydraulic actuated discs as well. there are less cable actuated these days but they are far far weaker than the hydraulics.
i totally forgot to mention demo days. probably too late now but they are well worth while, i think they have stopped for the season. Seems early in the day but the 2010 bikes will be out in a matter of weeks. How the material cost is effected will be interesting.

go register on singletrackworl and ask about trails. I haven't a clue around Norfolk to be honest. But as mentioned before trial centres well worth a trip these days.Last edited by istoo; 18 June 2009, 15:59.Comment

I'm actually a roadie ( raced for over 25 years) but do ride a MTB occasionally. ( Mine is a DB, years old, no suspension....)
Norfolk is great for riding, sooo quiet compared to the Thames Valley area, and with my advancing years I check out all the small roads/lanes..... in the Coltishall area I've found out I know more lanes than a local guy who's lived there 14 years !! It's not all flat either...... and on the flat you often have to contend with the wind and I reckon hills are better than ploughing into a stiff wind on an exposed road.
Hope you enjoy the bike.
Off topic, there use to be a fantastic breakers yard in Yaxham, only US stuff that the returning airman in the various bases use to just drive in and leave........ stuff from the fifties even. Ithink it may have been cleared some years ago - eyesore and all that pc stuff......??Last edited by ChrisG; 19 June 2009, 16:29.Comment

Istoo,
you'll be missed this year in Spain!!!, but dont worry I'll huck every rock drop, jump every drainage ditch, and ride over any/every maniac that gets in my way, Oh and drink as much cerveza as i can
and i'll tell ya all about it!
Rotoryboy good luck with the bike, DB good bikes, my weapon of choice when i raced many moons ago, then i learnt to drink beer, chase girls, but most of all get my license and buy a car!!!

Thanks guys. Norfolk is very pretty and will be my training ground, then once I remove my stabilisers I will then be able to play on the mountains. Istoo has already warned me about this sport becoming addictive and expensive
.
I am looking forward to leaping off things and bringing back the passion I had for BMXing, and it seems there are a few MTB on here. I may be asking questions soon and comparing injuries
