I'm speaking with a local spring manufacturer to get some custom 1.9 bar (0.9bar gauge) WG spring manufactured so that they fit a stock S2 WG cap without modification. Prices will alter with increased capacity. Currently looking at about £25 each for 10 off, including P&P, this will reduce for 20 off etc.

It isn't wise to fit them to a stock wastegate cap without modification as the spring has to wound back more than a stock spring, otherwise cracking price.
It's best used in conjuction with a newchip set although can be used on it's own.
It allows quicker boost and less wastegate creep by placing boost under mechanical control up until 0.9 bar.
The downside is that the ecu cannot lower boost below this level
I have one as I love having boost at part throttle and for me it makes a better driving car.
This would be done inconjuction with other upgrades and a Mapping session then - yes?

So, lets say you have a generic MRC map, or a homefried version... is there a benefit, or is it really only beneficial with a custom remap?
I would be interested, but don't want to damage my car...!

'03 ZX12-R daily hack.... lots of nice bolt ons...
Just to clarify - this is ONLY to be used with an ECU setup that expects it... I'm going to try cooking this up for Ross & Rusty - should give minimum spool time from low revs - minimal lag if you like.
Care required in mapping to avoid any nasty boost spikes and excessive levels at high load and high revs. This setup is fundamentally less safe than factory spring as when ECU turns of active boost control you still have 0.9bar of mechanical boost (versus factory ~0.4bar). However - on a healthy K24 that is just about OK - even at 6000rpm full throttle it can cope with 0.9bar.
I'll need to play with one of these for a week or so to fettle it... At the end should be something nice and generic by way of ABY ECU upgrade I shall call the 'X-Stream' - do you get it - do you see what I did there ?
Then 3B will follow.
Of course with this - it doesn't creat more max power or max torque - but it should create more torque earlier in the revs for even less lag than the K24 already has.

Paul can confirm, but I think the X-stream has the additional benefit of "V Stream technology", and therefore lower intake temps = more power, rather than lower boost that you are rewarded with from current set-ups...
