    Spraying 2pk

Need to spray some 2pk underseal and know you need to be very careful with this stuff - read lots of info online (which you can never really trust ), and I know really you should wear a forced air respirator for it due to the Isocyanates in the vapour - but I have found that some regular organic vapoour masks are certified for use with Isocyanates, with AB1 and P2 filters.

I can borrow a forced air respirator off my GFs bro's company for a weekend no problem, but trouble is my compressor won't run that and the spray gun at the same time As far as i can tell the HSE recommend forced air respirators becasue Isocyanates are odourless and tastelss so you can't tell when your tradition mask filters have run out and arn't doing their job anymore - i'll obviously only be spraying for an hour max really.

I really don't want to kill myself or give myself any health issues, especially not permanent ones as IsoCy can cause, but is a forced air respirator really neccessary for this small job over a decent approved organic vapour mask?

Can anyone who knows about this stuff offer any advice?

    Cheers

you will be ok with a one off.

wear a mask and suit and have the door open no worries.

my mate has sprayed plenty of bits with no proper booth and he's still walking or was at weekend anyway.

Have you seen overhaulin or american hotrod? They only use a filter mask not air fed! Thats painters that use it all day every day!
I bet your compressor will run gun and mask. the sealer gun uses not alot! Just have the mask on a very low pressure.

Cheers guys - sounds as if I could get away with a decent vapour mask. The forced air respirator needs 180 - 240 litres / minute which would pretty much max out my little 9cfm compressor but TBH I can hire another little compressor cheaper than I can buy a decent half mask and proper goggles anyway, so i'll probably borrow the forced air respirator off my GF's bro and use that - better safe than sorry... plus my neighbours might think I've got ET in the garage or something

BTW Rob I forgot to ask you - you mentioned using low pressure to build up on the seams then high pressure as a all-over sealer - what kind of Psi would you suggest?

        Cheers

Probobly 50-60 for a seam, 80-90 as a coating. its very easy to get the hang of, don't worry!
