I got done by one of them on the a46 a few years ago in my works van.

Also i read somewhere that some students stole the front number plate off one of these vans and ran up and down the motorway with it on there car,the van operator only knew when the fines came through lol

???????!!!!!!!!....Its a Council funded partnership between them and the Police. They are staffed by civilians, most of which are retired traffic cops.

There is no issue with false readings either as the device shows a laser dot on the screen that unless its positioned on the front of the subject vehicle, an error report is recorded and no speed.

I disagree with the way they are used in some circumstances and with a passion...But until the Govermernment goal posts change again and faceless cameras are replaced with discretional minded cops, they are here to stay for the time being........The only answer is to take personal responsibility for your driving,... If it says 30, do 30. If it says 40, do 40 and if its the diagonal black line on a white circle, well thats go as fast as you can,,,,,,isnt it?!!!!!

I take responsibilityfor my driving fully, i really do. but.....
The argument if you are doing nothing wrong you have nothing to fear completely misses the point.
No society that is free should be burdened with the knowledge that wherever they go whatever they do the Government is watching. via CCTV
        or some other means.

That is the end of freedom and it should not be happening. The fact that people are prepared to defend that as acceptable only reveals the extent to which people have become brainwashed into accepting authority monitoring them.

That is outrageous just because something can be done doesn't mean it should be done.

When you live england all the time you may not realise how you are losing control of your lives little by little. Just how many officials have control over everything from your rubbish bin to parking your car?

Living in a free society involves some risk and Britain has managed to create the worst of both worlds curtailed freedom and risk in the form of crime ridden streets.

And it's getting much worse: according to a very recent court ruling, if things go against you because a civil servant made a mistake in any way (rather than you actually doing something bad/wrong/illegal yourself), you are still screwed and they are not liable in any way.

Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

Truly shocking, I have had a run in with Alliance and Leicester and Experian recentley never really got resolved to my satisfaction, **** ups get passed from person to person and the only one who ends up paying for it all and not just in cash...is the individual who has done nothing wrong...I'll say ne'more.

not quite on a scale like this but I really feel for those involved.

"it starkly illustrates the dangers and shows that bureaucratic ****-ups and foot-dragging are far from a victimless crime,"

couldn't have put it better myself!
