Just my opinion but I think the S2, in both coupe and avant form has aged much better than the RS2.
Not Taking anything away from the RS2 its a fantastic car I'm talking purely looks here.
Now shoot me down in flames

"For what you spent on that you could have brought a new car"
BUT I DON'T WANT A NEW CAR!
1995 S2 Avant, Volcano Black
1982 VW Golf Mk1, primer yellow, will be finished one day, maybe.
2003 VW T4 long nose X pack, (has become project)
I think the S2 coupe still looks hot even next to the new S5. It's first genuine 'successor'
But I also think the RS2 still looks awesome. Agressive and purposeful. Even today
Cheers

YES!!! I always thought I was the only person to think this
Based JUST on looks, NOT performance, the S2 is better.
Personally I think the RS2 front bumper does not suit the car atall, it looks like too much of an afterthought.
I always got the impression they walked through the warehouse and dipped into the Porsche bodyparts bin picking out random bits!
The thing for me is, time has not been kind to the RS2.
The rear reflector looked good at the time, remember it spawned many copies!! How many did you see years ago?! "ESCORT" "XR3i", etc etc!
These days, they just look very dated.
Which brings me to the rear bumper, I agree the number plate looks better frenched into the bumper, but once again every other Nova and Saxo has a "smoothed" rear end with the numberplate plonked in the middle of the rear bumper!
Of course its not exactly the same, but that is the image I get in my head when I see one...
The front bumper and grill mesh looks good, but sadly every Corsa, Nova, Saxo and whatever else has had one of those snowplow bumpers bodged on sports acres of similar mesh.
Daughters always are more beautiful than mothers
Who’s not agree, rise hand
That depends on WHEN you do the comparison - when both were 21 or when mother is 30yrs older - not fair otherwise.
As to the RS2 - well firstly I think both the B3 Coupe and B4 shapes have aged really well - so has the Cabrio IMHO. They have definitely aged better than the B5 shaped A4 - they look really old for some reason now - maybe thats just me - and some other models from the same era have not aged well. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder alright so I know my views are not widespread shall we say... Tis well known that whilst I admire the Sport UR for its performance and importance - but it is ugly to me.
I used to really want the RS2 bumper on my Coupe, but now I blow hot and cold for it depending on my mood. Sometimes I think it looks right and others that its just trying too hard - especially with the mesh grills and such that have been copied aplenty.
I'm also not a big fan of the huge red reflector panel on the RS2 but it doesn't irk me the same way. Internally the RS2 is better with those alcantara seats - yummy.
