The VEMS gauge is one to buy Andy, it doesn't need recalibrating at regular intervals unlike the innovate.

Common problem if you search the web

ideally you should use a second area on the downpipe to use the wideband,so that you keep the original lamda in place. That way you dont mess with what motronic sees as a signal and you can still monitor the afr.

i wanted something in a digital aspect and bought this kit here: (first on page) http://trigger-wheels.com/store/inde...FRSRZgodc3me3A

which seems simple. I hooked it up to see what motronic had as lamda figures. Now it is still connected powerwise, but not to a lamda. I plan to connect a second wideband there, for safety(maybe) although im a bit fed up with all gauges....

Innovate is the most accurate on the market. Get the LC-1 and a display, and do as Vas says: run it along with the stock narrowband.

Calibration of the Innovate can be done while coasting in gear (injectors shut off and the engine only pumps air). Takes approx 10 seconds.

                i have used the following.

innovate LM-1 - big unit great for swapping between cars. worth having RPM pickup.
Innovate LC-1 - very similar fits in car.

                vems gauge.

on motronic secondary fitting for probe is needed.

ask yourself what features do you need. id recommend RPM and egt too.

i have a defi meter that will do all of these and more. never used it in the end.

You don't need to have a secondary gauge, users such as slow2 have run for 3-4 years on narrowband emulation from a wideband in stock location without issue.

Vems gauge also has RPM pickup, plus everything is in the 52mm gauge no extras, from my research i've seen quite a few people switch to it and are happy.

i use vems gauge purely as it fits in the right hand airvent and looks neat. i sold the lc-1 for that reason

i would not do narrowband emulation unless i had no choice

The advantage of running an emulated narrowband signal is that you can run slightly leaner, like 15.3:1 for best BSFC.
The advantage of not doing it is that by running a separate wideband, you can keep track of the health of the narrowband and the calibration of the wideband, as the reading should fluctuate around 14.7 at part throttle.
If running just the wideband, place it in a spot further down the downpipe, as the stock location will overheat the sensor, skewing the signal. The readings might look correct, but they will be off by some factor. The entry to the CAT is a great location, as it will have the lowest impact on the exhaust flow.

How much fluctuation is normal on part throttle?

Varies, but I usually see it swing between 14.5 and 15.0
