If they have been then I hope the owner was still inside.

Did anyone see the Autocar report on this ill advised scheme a couple of weeks ago? There was a perfectly functional Audi Cabriolet and on a different note, a Fiat with just 1400 miles on the clock...

            Agreed, and the Cab owner.

I feel it's a daft scheme and isn't really fixing the problems it's supposed to be curing. Just my HO.

It's just revenue generation for new car sales with a small amount of Government subsidy, if the cars that are scrapped were sold to breakers yards for dismantling and recycling then fine but I guess they're just cushed on the orders of the short-sighted idiots that run this country now.

This scheme really annoys me. Why scrap perfectly good cars, I think its horrendous. I know of some one that had an S reg Fiat punto, (granted not a good car lol) and traded it in against a cittron c3. She tried to do it when it ran out of MOT but was told it must be MOTed. So off she went MOTed the car, flew through it. Then traded it in under the scrappage deal.
So a nice little run about for some one was scrapped, full MOT, low miles, FSH, very clean car
I hate the way this country is going.

IMO, I hate this scheme, I think there's something more than meets the eye.

All new cars are under that new tax bracket robbery and have paperwork for their emissions so they can sting you in future on the grounds of how "environmentaly unfriendly" the car is.

                        DON'T DO IT!

Cars are treated the same way as washing machines now, certainly by the pen pushers and by the less informed consumers. In the UK it does precious little for the economy as the companies are all overseas owned, it might safeguard a few jobs but in the long term it won't help.

                            Right,
firstly - i do not agree with the scheme or support it...

                            BUT

is it not clear how much sense the sceme makes to someone considering a brand new car?
For example, VW are currently offering double scrappage, so thats 4K off a new car.
aint no way my S2 would ever sell for 4k, and neither would any of the cars anyones mntioned in this thread, however much i wish that it could!

It makes me tempted by a new scirrocoo on tick tbh
