Success!! Awesome options added to Coupe!

After some serious time gathering parts I have completed the installation of powered rear vent windows, and infra-red keyless entry on my Coupe 20v turbo project car.

I aquired the vent window set from James "SPINK" here on the Forum. He is a wonderful gent who got the set here to me in one piece. I can't thank him enough! He did not have a loom so I used a 4 door saloon loom from a old 1993 90 B4. I removed the rear window child lock-out switch and wires and installed the proper connectors on the ends that plug into the rear vent motors. I also had to add about 8 inch extensions of wire in order for the connectors to reach to the rear motors. All were soldered and shrink taped and then wrapped in black cloth friction tape. The loom looked like a factory piece when completed.

I used "Tonks 4x4" and "Valjo" rear vent installation guides they posted here on the Forum. They are both excellent postings! Thanks to both of you.

The infra-red system I used from the same B4 90 I parted out. I had to do long wire extensions for the door portion of the central locking loom. About 18 inches. No modifications to the rest of the loom. The control/vacuum unit reached perfectly to the small cavity just forward of the right side boot black plastic storage bin.

All the connections were "plug and play" following the S2 central wiring diagrams. Thanks Paul!!

The tricky part was drilling the holes out for the Infra-red sensors on the "B" pillars. Since I could not obtain any photos of the exact hole locations I used my best judgement. When installing the rear vents I removed the riveted B pillars and using the B4 90 B pillars. I stenciled the hole outline to the Coupe's. I then drilled out the hole with a proper sized bit and them finished the detail of the hole with power Dremel tool with a metal cutting bit. Worked great!

Drilled a hole in the Main B pillar to run the sensor wire down to mate with the central lock loom.

I would post pictures but for the life of me I have no idea how to post them on this Forum. If somebody will give me a step by step I will post some!

Thanks to all who helped with there postings here on the S2 Forum!

    Joe Marconi

BTW, I have another Cruise control complete package set and another heated seat loom package set with power seat function! Email me if interested! audicoupeparts@yahoo.com

    Good job!

You can upload pictures by either adding them straight to your posts as attachments, (they may need resisting and 3 max per post) Or you can upload them to somewhere like photobucket and then just link them to the posts with the insertimage.gif button.

I bought a cruse control kit from you about 2 years ago haven't got round to fitting it yet though

I will get some pics this week!

No, I have not done that lighting up grade. I do not have a dash in the car at the moment. Only the rear seat backs and the trunk linings are in. THe doors, seats, centre console and dash are BARE bones right now. Iam waiting on a Cam position sensor to hopefully get my ADU engine running!

Once I get her running I will finish out the interior. It is way more easier to do under dash wiring when the dash is not in the car!

            Nice one Joe!

Pics, when you're in the post screen, look down the page a bit and click on "manage attachments" follow your nose..

You will prob have to reduce the size of your pics to post on here, click on this LINK to download the microsoft image resizer powertoy, run the exe (its a genuine Microsoft app so no worries) and you will then have an option to resize any image when you right click on it. You can lasso a group of images to resize them all at once, the resized images will appear in the same folder with a suffix (small) (medium) etc depending on your choice.

This works for windows XP if you're on vista you might already have the option, not sure I've managed to avoid Vista so far Praise the Lord

PS My heated seats are still working a treat thanks to the kit you sold me the drivers one is clicking away all the time though so I suspect a dodgy switch.. Will have to swap it over and see.

i must say I'm jealous, having done a similar swap and looking at your car... I'm jealous. I'm actually suprised you have the correct style fuel lines, and the correct aby style ABS pump, I left my older style stuff. Also jealous of the windows and of the 6 speed gear box. Well done!

                          Thanks!

This project has been on going for nearly 9 years from the time I first started gathering 3B S2 parts from the parts theif Flexx Ata!!! The past 2 years I have been gathering bits for the conversion to ABY and ADU spec of the entire engine compartment. The Windows and Keyless just happened to come along while I had the whole damn interior removed.

I started a Project thread. I wish I knew better how to list pics and info about the photos better.
