Get the flywheel pin in sight then bolt the sensor in with some plasticene on it to see what the spacing is, as its a new flywheel it has to be the main suspect.. Also I wonder if someone used a stainless pin by mistake? (non magnectic) Checking the output with a scope would prove this one way or the other.

One quick check you can do. If you have the sensor out of the block and you wave a screwdiriver back and forth fairly quickly over the face of the sensor. Get someone to crank the engine at the same time and you can get it to fire if everything else is ok.

Got your PM and looked at the schematics... 99% sure I have nailed it for you. Check your PM. Ground one wire and you are running !!!

Joe, pull the sensor out and rotate the motor over so you see the timing pin. Take the magnet to it. Also, make sure it's long enough. Some early built Fidanza units are known to have come with alu pin - go figure.

I remember Alex Van Gerbig(Europrice) had running issues on his ABY swapped B3....I ended up buying his alu flywheel and he put stock 3B in there and his car ran beautifully. I didn't care about it on mine since I was using IIc.

Wonder if this could have caused your original mis-spark...or was it distributor related?

I checked the pin and this flywheel is the same one I used in the 3B so I know the pin is steel and should work fine in the AAN.

The dizzy caused the spark jump in the 3B engine distruction.

Because it deals with the Immobilizer circuit. It's not something you want thieves to know.

ITS ALIVE! ITS ALIVE!!! The Problem is SOLVED!

Many thanks to all who replied with their thoughts and ideas of my no ignition problem. The ABY Coupe conversion is alive!!!

A very special thanks goes "The Great One" , "The S2 Jedi Master", Sir Paul Nuggent. aka S2central.net He needs to be Knighted by the Queen for his great deed in solving my problem. Somebody over there start a petition to get him Knighted!

His superior knowledge of the S2 wiring diagrams was the defining break in the case of the no start problem of my Aby converted US spec Coupe Quattro. I owe him many a pints at the local Pub when i hopefully come to the UK and visit

The problem was the immobiliser was not working. The theft system immobiliser info is a high security item Iam not at liberty to discuss the problem since I promised Paul.

Paul explain what can be discussed about my problem for the members what he sees fit..

Again many thanks to Paul and the others.

                          Best regards and safe drive
