You could take head like of http://www.cncheads.co.uk and see how much they can reliably open ports out and then http://www.catcams.co.uk/ do some NA cams for the I5, along with a free flowing exhaust with a custom performance orientated manifold and set ITBs (since that what your keen on using) could see 250bhp or more. However it would want rev higher than stock so you would be best up rate internal adoringly and balance them if want be reliable.

There are a few old posts on here claim to have got a stock 7A to 200bhp with no more remap and de-cat

However tuning a NA motor requires a fair amount of engineering theory along with a fair bit of dyno testing and re working, so if go with it be ready get technical. I'd love see it done a 944

i was thinking about your car too hibby, how is it getting on now?

ABT, ottinger, gti engineering all did upgrade kits for the 7A from factory cars. all claiming/aiming for 200bhp. I have articles for the ottinger and GTI engineering cars.

200bhp from a decat and remap i would strongly doubt. The tubular manifold made the single biggest difference to mine so far. What it does change is how much earlier and quicker the power comes on. if you get a latter car with ecu and cast mani, ditch the cast and fit and earlier tubular gives the best range of power. That alone is regarded as 10+bhp improvement. winds up earlier too, and warbles more too.

4v6 on Audifans has done a few P&P jobs on 7a's and just finished one on a 20vt block for an anonymous customer. But the flowtested gains are quite good on the 7A.

plus not to forget an engine will drop off power as it ages and we arew all assuming the make exactly 170bhp at 20 tears old..

still, its a good lump and minre is destined to be my first track car, light as well, for a quattro.

istoo progress is very slow. 1 reason is I am fed up with doing it on the street. I live in a flat and it is not the nicest areas of Edinburgh so if I have left a tool inside or more commonly want some advice from the net everything has to be packed away in my boot or its gone. Had a smackhead I know practically under the car with me telling me what to do one day (God rest his soul now as he died about a month ago). Have since tried to get a lock up to work in but been refused a couple when I told them I wanted to work on my project car in it.

just want to see the spec and out come of it.

Not any TB's on mine , but i'm hoping 190bhp isn't too much to ask for once my schrick cam is fitted. but who knows.

ABY exhaust cam improves torque spread, someone did it on here a while ago to a 7A. Still ik ethe idea of a low pressure turbo 7A

Be interested to know what sort of money a flowed head is

light turbo version that 034 offer would be nice. and no offence I own a urS4 as well, the 7A sounds better.

there is a swiss one i must find the link for which is a full trackday toy, cant find the link for the life of me. But 200bhp I can say isnt difficult more than that starts to get expensive unless you just go for NOS.

aposegil, you want to have a chat with Nogin on Audifans.
