Fuel prices: Will it affect your ownership of an S2?

I filled up with V-Power today, and it was 124.9 per litre!!

I am lucky in the fact that I dont drive many miles, and could walk to work if things got really bad.
I looked on petrolprices.com, and the average around here at the moment seems to be about 118 per litre.
With rumours of it going up another 10p by the end of the month, how will it affect your ownership of an S2 or heavy fuel drinking car?
I can see a drop in prices coming again soon for big engined cars!

Won't stop me driving my S2...

But I will make think twice about every trip...

It's one reason I run my MK2 golfs... Can get nearly 40 mpg from a GTI... And it has Soul & Class unlike a modern box... cheap to insure and peanuts to fix...

The other reason I think twice about taking the S2 out is the fecking state of the roads round here... some roads are worse than what you see on the telly in Afghanistan...

Thought we were a new world country not a 3rd world one....

Where do all my taxes go from fuel & road tax.... Not on the fecking roads that's for sure....

Just face it,we are screwed. The goverment with their misplaced and factually incorrect adgenda on climate change, will not be happy until we are all driving smart car looking electric ****mobiles. Then again they are also happy that we are paying a criminal amount of tax on our fuel to pay towards reducing their massive deficit.
Either way it doesn't bode well for us,but what the hell I am keeping mine.We are between a rock and a hard place in terms of running costs at the mo'.

im finishing my mk2 off at the moment with a plan to use it while i re-juvinate the s2. I don't see the point in owning the car and not using it but if the cost is that high that i can't afford to go too many places then it might have to go into 2nd car role but i hope not

need to get on ebay for a ford falcon Gt with a huge blower ready for when we start fighting for fuel

it certainley would affect it, but don't have a heavy fuel drinking mobile atm lucklily, just picked up a 80 1.6 TD tonight that's more like it

Euro 95 (noram fuel over here) is about €1,50 and even higher at the pump near the highways

In short, no - I won't let it stop me running whatever I want to run ...and if I see that bloke Brown I might even run him over with it.

ah give it time there will be a strike or blocade i'm sure, regardless of what the law says. It's getting to the point where the 'don't give a f88k' mentality is beginning to surface more and more. Like you say, all this tax and yet materially no improvement in the infrastructure and an increasingly cynical public about where its ends up means arnachy is just around the corner

Will i drive it less......no. have two other cars for the daily slog so the S2 is for fun these days and as it's not moved in 5 months, its due a good thrashing which will make it even less efficient that is usually is

We could get the whole S2 community to run over him...shotgun second in line!

I purchased the S2 with the 'I dont give a ???k'mentality. I wanted the car, it came up at the right price and I knew things were going to get worse. I can walk to work and I do most of the week but the missus cant. I take the view that I wont be told what I should drive and I'll drive what I want to. I'm not driving a crappy eurobox to save the planet when theres now so much confusion and doubt about who fixed what scientific papers.

Blockades, wont happen I'm afraid. I was there the first time, hell on the footage outside fawley, thats my Metro van they have the TV plonked on. I was there the second time and no-one other than the truckers could be bothered, in fact tbh the public was hostile about the whole thing because of the rubbish the media spouted last time. Also add on top of that, in the back of the minds of everyone there, is the fact that mr B-Liar changed the law so the army can be deployed against their own citizens.

You Know, It wouldbe paletable IF public transport wasnt such a bloody joke. $2 gets me around calgary all day, just about everywhere I need to go, even out to the 'burbs. There were weeks where the DMC stayed in the garage and didnt move.

14.5mpg at the mo is a pian but no depreciation and about 1500 miles a year mean that I'm doing well. The BMW is actually going up at the mo and does 25 around town (S2=15) and up to 40mpg on a cruise so I'm happy enough there too. Obviously, the cost of fuel is a disgrace and both the government and oil companies are taking us all for a ride. I don't doubt that there will be more action from the truckers some time soon, it might be a PITA at the time but if it makes people take notice then it's a necessary route.

I had the S6 remapped at MRC recently. At the same time they changed the fuel pump (for 044), fuel lines, fuel filter and put in RS2 injectors. The car feels fantastic to drive now with the RS2 turbo, but here's the bit I wasn't expecting:

                            When I cruise at 80mph, I no longer get 24mpg - I get 33mpg!

Not exactly sure how this has happened, but I'm pretty happy about it

fuel prices won't make me sell the S2 (I don't drive it as a daily), but will make me use the diesel more for the longer trips.

what is more threatning is the decreasing supply of 98RON fuel....
