      stick this on passionford.com matey!
do most damage there, trust me.

      this is shocking

another tuner gone bye bye also from mountune was Paul Hills> engine advantages
loadsa good and bad reports from them, funnyest was an R33 GTR had headgasket and after customer eventualy got car back it was rattling from the top end so he stripped the n/s cam cover off to find the multispline/torq bit was still on one of the head studs and rattling on the cam!! :O

EVERY garage has off days but this is taking the pi55

i used to build and prep rallycars for a living and seeing some of the work "top class" tuners churn out can be truely dangerous and shocking, it realy can.

i had a mate have his mk2 RS2000 setup on the rollers once and he got a speeding fine through the door, turns out matey had it out for a blast and got clocked off a mobile camera!!!!!
my mate took the points and get a free RR setup so not all bad lol

hope the car is up and sorted soon for you
i know what its like to be waiting on someone else to finish work for you

THerefore, not really worth pursuing that way.

Decided to post all this so others did not fall into the same pit when things go wrong. I'm sure people don't realise that the law offers so little protection.
Was that a solicitor that gave that figure?
He has to replace your loss +costs +a gesture of goodwill(debatable but if this gets struck off your more likely to get what you ask from 1 and 2 without question)
Hes not bust by any means im guessing and wouldn't disapear off the scene too quick.
I dont understand how they can get away with 75% they're either right or wrong at this stage. Thats robbery!

You'll never get your time back for all the aggro but the money you could gain back would be enough to get you back where you started.

What a sorry tale. I hope things are moving forward for you now. Chris anything i can do to help let me know.

I agree on the legal point it is such a minefield with much uncertainty. Sadly i spend many hours dealing with lawyers and counsel over disputes and i have no faith whatsoever in the legal system, its just money after money.. and a lawyer will always tell you you have a good case 75% chance of winning until its time to do the winning.. he has earned his fee by then.. With such a complicated case you would also need specialist QC advise and support.

Fortunately i work for a large enough organisation that has clout and i very often tell the lawyers that i will pay them + bonus if we win. You get very different advice..

          Chin up mate...

Car is off the road and has been for more than two years now. Having paid over £7k to FMS for the work they did has left a hole in my pocket (I am still paying off the loan). I have since started gathering parts (new EM and IM and a few body panels that will need replacing) and the engine has been completely striped to ensure no permanent damage has been done.
I am hoping that the engine will be put back together this year. Then I have to get it back in the car and all the accident damage will have to be sorted properly last.

I think you will find Paul Hills monumental f**k up was Ian's wrc specced Yb that cost him over 30k several times and lasted all of 5 mins down the road.

The Skyline incident was indeed bad but in no way did it cost the owner what those engines cost Ian, search the thread, it sadly makes this one look small fry in comparison.

Just shows how even reputable tuners cannot be trusted, with Paul Hills being ex Mountune it wasn't expected, not sure what Tommy Fields history is but there is no doubt he has turned out some excellent work in the past which I'd guess is why this user trusted him with the Audi.

Its certainly going to end up being a HUGE debate on PF for years to come as things like this will not go away quickly.

As stated in my write up, the car went to FMS due to the 'alternative' route I took when tuning my engine using tested Cossie setup - Pectel, very low C/R (7:1) etc.

Bloody hell, what a sad thread to read, I cant begin to imagine the nightmare you have been through with all of this.
I remember you asking me at the MRC open day 2 years ago if I had heard any good/bad about Tommy Fields as I was a regular on Passionford at the time.
If anyone had of asked I would of thought the whole car was sorted ages ago!
As already said, (and Ive not looked at the thread yet) I know it will definitly be a MASSIVE debate on Passionford!!

There is some good advice on Passion Ford from Isaac Hunt re small claims, not all your money back but at least some if it pans out.

If you search for posts by Ian M500cos on pf, he was the one that got stung by Paul Hills, somewhere he posted a full breakdown of what he was charged, some of it was ridiculous like 100 + quid of jubilee clips !
