Couple of buyng an S2 questions please

LO all, since I have been polite and introduced myself , now for the impotant stuff

    1) I am still seriously considering an S2 coupe , so common problems body or engine wise that are easy to look out for on a viewing ?. I only have experience of 944'a and I know that someone like myself though of limited experirence will know most of the 944 foybles to look out for so you guys must be similar re S2's.

    2) Is the guy from Windsor on Piston Heads honest/reliable/ewell known etc as he seems to have some reasonably priced S2's and other Audi's.

Feel free to P.M me if you have knowledge/experience the 2nd one please.

    Cheers

See for the a good buying guide: www.s2central.net

Off the top of my head in no particular order:

Service history and bills, if it hasn't got loads adding up to thousands walk away
Mileage, not important see point 1
Buy on condition not mileage see point 1
The engine should sound smooth and quiet, tappets should not be heard on a well maintained engine
Rust is not a good sign, these cars were galvanised and the body should be rot free.
Check subframes for rust they are starting to give up even on good cars.
Ideally the coolant should be red (G12+)
Normally the AC does not work!
Check the suspension, top mounts and wishbone bushes are consumables on these cars
The engine should feel strong from 2000rpm all the way to 6500, if it doesn't something is up.

All this and more is at S2Central.

I am sure others will add some more...

    Cheers,

    Steve

P.S. I don't know anything about this alltype cars bloke, but he doesn't turn his stock over very quickly....

Think Fat has covered most of the buying issues for you... as for the "Other" question do a search on the forum and you will find some "Very Interesting" threads.

Fatty's done well there, a few more things:-
          • Front wings all rust where they touch the bumper, there should not be any other rust on the bodywork.
          • Rear subframes rust where the track rods attach, inspect this area.
          • As fatty says, subframes have surface rust, suspension bushes have a hard life.
          • Prop centre bearing will more than likely be on its last legs.
          • Most cars have boost leaks and so may feel flat, boost cutting is generally caused by this too but it can also be a sign of something more sinister. A boost leak check is worth doing.
          • Idle won't be rock solid but it should be 'acceptable' and not rough.
          • If the clutch is really heavy then it's on its last legs or the master cylinder linkage is about to break (feels 2 stage light then heavy) - can be fixed.
          • Regular oil changes should have been carried out, I do mine every 3-4k (a bit OTT) but over 10k between changes isn't good. XXW50 should be used at a minimum to protect the turbo.
          • It's always nice if the brakes have been upgraded, stock brakes are actually dangerous if you use the power a bit

Factor in some new suspension bushes, some work on the subframes to rust-proof them again, a full fluids change and some remedial work on the boost system to ensure it's airtight, some Samcos inlet and water combined with new vacuum lines and a remap are always worth adding to the budget. Perhaps £2-3k to get the car driving beautifully, if it's not had the work done already.

All capitals 'shouting' at me for no good reason no full stops anywhere in your posts. Clearly you get upset at the drop of the hat. I was only doing the sort of sensible research any professional chap would do.

Sorry m8ee but I dont even need to pick up the phone to exclude you from my car hunting process. You have done the job very nicely for me and I thank you.

                Many Thanks

Your entire reply was agressive and very defensive.

Mas, I think he's answered your second question for you lol

                      PS.
Nothing wrong with a good debate, especially if its about your company and you have nothing to hide? Surely thats called free advertising
