Biggest issue in the UK is the hardening treatment. We went through this issue with driveshafts and ended up getting them made in the US. The UK market uses induction hardening which only hardens the surface, whereas what you really want is through hardening which is much better for chassis/driveline components if they are going to get a hammering.

one thing worth looking at andy is the drop links.

the whiteline stuff has alw2ays been good. i feel it maybe other components too that are giving not quite the desired.

now i expect you know more on these than me. i think the s2 ones are a thin metal rod. on a subaru for example they are plastic but shaped for rigidity. the whiteline ones were a thicker bar in metal with 2 good poly bushes. helped no end.

maybe its how the bar is tied as much as the bar. gotta say i like my whiteline with the other mods. its pretty bumpy up north though.

25mm rear bar works OK on the OE drop links. They are thin metal but not much thinner than the RS2 items that people fit up front as an improvement over the plastic items...

If you go too stiff then the mounting points start to suffer, don't think that'll be an issue here but it's something to be aware of.

If I can sort a new bar then I'll also look into the drop links, especially as the OE ones are a small fortune nowadays.

the subaru ones were about 40 quid a set i think.

for a track superstart like yourself i suppose you want it flat.

Rears on a coupe were £50 each when I got some 3 years ago, that was from TPS with club discount too!

I'm looking at having my own springs made up, they're the key on track really, BIG ARBs are for road cars with soft springs a la French Hatch Chaude

im happy with mine on the road. very flat and compliant. maybe its the poly's and solids too. the promounts also.

as you know its the all round package and balancing bits.

                  best o luck.

one option is to have a look at the makers of tail lift parts. the use torsion bars.

It's not the body roll that's the problem, it's the understeer. The HnRs are a backwards step in that respect over the stock springs IMO, I'm hoping to sort that out though.

                      G'day everyone,

Hope you don't mind us popping in but were just told about this thread.

Rusty, can I ask about the rear bar and the need for a bigger alternative to our current 18mm size? Would like to try to understand what you might need to see if we can add to the range.

Appreciate any feedback people might have.

                      Cheers

Welcome to the forum, I think your biggest gain would be from offering a front anti roll bar.

Currently there is only one alternative which is the RS2 bar for the 80 S2 range and Audi have put the price of this bar up by 4-5 times it's original selling price and it is now an unrealistic price.

If it was adjustable from 28mm-30mm it would be quite the seller.

Adjustable front bar 28mm-30mm I would have one for sure.

Also a more hardcore rear bar would be great. 22mm something like that.

                              G’day everyone,

Thanks for the feedback, that’s great.

So I gather there are limited options available in the market now? Are most of these being used for “street” of some racing as well?

Nearly all of us are running street cars that see a couple of track sessions per season.

Most of the us older brigade on here run an RS2 front and a Whiteline rear but as Jamo said, for newer members wanting to follow the accepted wisdom, the RS2 front is too expensive and is non adjustable.

On the rear, most of us Coupe owners are running the Whiteline on the stiffest setting but it is just too weak. A 22mm bar would be better IMHO with at least 3 settings.

Oh and my Whiteline is 3 years old and in about the same condition as the Titanic, so I am gonna have to pull it off and PORs it or powder coat it. Any chance you could use a better coating on your next versions?

                                Cheers n

P.S. What is your minimum batch size, as I bet we can hit it quite easily on both fronts and rears.
