Managed to pick up a dogcam on ebay for £70 in c shipping the other night.

http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/dogcampro520.htm It was an Option3 kit, used about 3-5 times and originally cost £135 as it has the extra cable run

Just been out with it in the car, picture quality is superb, need to twiddle with the v-gain mic though as the exhaust is distorting as its so bloody loud

Will post up a clip later, even distorted, the sound is fantastic - can wait to use it at coombe this weekend

Oooh, interesting, I have a couple of Go-Pros which are great, but the sound is not so great!

Can you use an external mic on these?

no need for pets with my two kids...just as expesive to run, only thing is i can't kick them out at night so I can get some sleep

Had a dogcam for a while but it needed a camcorder to work so ended up getting sold, quite good fun hiding it from the 'ring police

this was with the gain whacked right down, so will need to play about with placement still I think, this was with the mic wedged between the number plate surround and the left side light cluster. DEFINATELY too close

I still have an old dog cam but carrying the camcorder was annoying, so now I use a ContourHD1080 but modified with an external mic so I can place it anywhere.

Know a few people with the MD80 model (different to above) and the quality is excellent for the money but they suffer from suttering every second or so, probably as they're writing to the memory card. This is an quick example of the Contour at 848x480, the video has been compressed/converted by me AND then recompressed by Youtube and it still looks very good.

David, what have you done to your exhaust? It sounds like a straight through system! Did I miss something?

The mics distort with noise and wind you need to wrap some foam round it to make a pop shield and tape it in place, works a treat
