I've got a flashing light in my car!

There's a red led flashing in one of the foglight switches when I lock the car, never seen this before so it must be since I removed all the immobs and alarms last weekend. What does it mean? I'm pretty sure there's no non standard wiring left behind the dash..

Yeah that confused me too the first time. Its only activated when the key in the door is turned to the lock position so it never works with aftermarket alarms/central locking.

But it DOES work when you add the proper remote control module onto the factory system - you know the VALEO ones that VAGparts (RIP) used to do.

Beats me why anyone wiring in an aftermarket system would defeat the factory system in the process anyway. So much for 'belt and braces'...

Blue light in the mirror is definately be alarmed...and hide everything!!

I found that a few years ago, the blue light in the mirror happens at about 130 mph!

3 years of a renault 18 diesel fixed that!!

Very interesting, i have one of those somewhere that i never used. Guess its time to reverse engineer the wiring, i suspect aftermarket alarms are wired into the vacuum pluger micro switches not the sensor on the door lock. Or maybe the Valeo unit triggers both?

Interesting, the only thing actually working in my car was the immobiliser which was just wired to break the 2 live feeds from the ign switch. So presumably factory setup is fed from one of those feeds.

The standard immobiliser is a bit more sophisticated than that I think, AFAIK the immob unit itself is in the central locking pump in the boot of the Avant by the washer bottle. I discovered this when stripping my Avant for paint. Took the lights out - removing the CL pump. Car wouldn't start, plug it back in all sorted... Could be wrong - sure someone will correct me if so!!

There is a little hooting noise from the back of the car when it locks. ..

Yes that's the horn type thing that sits in the rear inner arch near the ABS ECU & battery
