Well I bought my s2 about 6 weeks ago now, and I really wish I hadn't!!
Just about everything has gone wrong on it
Started blue smoking due to using oil, at a rate of about 1ltr per 150 miles, turbo was f*cked, £420 for a new one. then it lost all performance and I had to replace the coilpacks at great expense, was fine for a little while then kept loosing performance and going onto overboost again, ended up fixing various boost leaks, new n75 and new dump valve.
And best of all, last week, just over 1000 miles after buying the car, the f*cking head cracked. Its costing me £1000 in parts alone to fix it and if it wasn't for a really top forum-member sourcing the parts and helping me to do the work it could have cost twice that. I know you'll all say "when its done it'll be worth it" but right now I hate the thing for costing me so much money.
Anyway, doing all the work has turned into an under-bonnet restoration so at least when its all done it will look nice. So I took some aluminium parts to a local company (Poole area) called Pheonix Engineering, where he sandblasted and aqua cleaned the metal. This is not a coating, just a method of cleaning.
It comes up extrememly well and unlike natural aluminium, oil and dirt doesn't seem to stick to it, its almost like theres a film of laquer on it (but there isn't), so you can just wipe it clean if you get oil on it. I'm chuffed, see what you think

Not sure why the camera has picked up white spots on the rocker cover as you can't see them normally.
