Just had a quote from Admiral, was the best by quite some way.
I was then foolish enough to ask to pay by Direct Debit: £900 extra!
I was expecting it to be higher, sure, but ~50% APR?! I know back street loan sharks that charge less than that! :corey:
Rant over.
Maybe cos im a old ******, but my last quote from admiral was less than £300 fully comp on my S2.
It was ramped up to £350 because of the breakdown cover, legal cover and car hire but if you can pay over 2 months instead of direct debit they didnt charge me a premium.
Tell me about it! I have always paid in full via card, as the interest rate is alot lower than the mark-ups for paying via DD, then when you pay it off early it's a bonus. Always worth a thought if you have the means.
Or, as you say, take out a loan with a back-street pikey and you'll still save money
Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and pay for it all. Was hoping not to since it's been an expensive month already

Unforutunately the nice travelling people who were living in the park down the road have just been moved on. Missed my chance!
All the other companies I've talked to seem amazed that Admiral have even quoted me. Actually the thing I love is when they start off with the condescending, "So you're 20...and it's an Audi..."
I tried about ten companies yesterday, Kwik fit wanted £3500, hahaha, A flux want £1600, Chris not won't insure you unless you have a year with someone else first, makes no sense to me. It's a mine field.
Best to go with one of the admiral group and get that first year. They seem to be cheap for the S2, i read somewhere they have it as a group 16 rather than 18?
I took out my first policy with them at 22 on the S2, cost £1100. Then moved to Adrian Flux with NCB at £1200. After a very poor experience with them, and writing off my coupe, i moved to elephant now with no NCB at £1,200. Next year, it was £900, and then the S2 was off the road.
After 25, and a couple of years NCB, it dropped to £350 with elephant on a 5,000 mile policy, and I've just been quoted £567 for an RS2 with lancaster on a classic car 7,500 mile policy (vs. £1100 with elephant). I still get quoted £1-3k on the S2 with most places!
admiral were by far the cheapest for me to, i got quoted £910 (4ncb) and im 23. I took out the policy on my 80 for £400 and in the first week i asked how much it was to change to an S2 and it was £200 extra...£310 cheaper!!!! SCORE!!!
One point to note with the admiral group - their quotes at time of renewal are always about double what you paid... ignore it, get a quote online as a new customer, then call in with the reference and they will match it every time. They are clearly trying to catch out the unaware and make a few extra quid!
I just renewed with Admiral again, phoned round several of the usuals but were all coming out more. I also did the online quote thing after reading something on another forum about it working out cheaper than what the renewal letter will quote. It did...it was 12pence less..lol!!
I did managed to knock them down slightly more on the phone but Admiral was def the cheapest and will do a good deal on a multi-car policy also.
