    Headlight wiring?

    Hello,
Since I am based in the US I dont have access to the same micro fiche look up as all of you over in Europe. What Im tring to find out is if these part numbers I was given come as sets or single items. I bought some RS2 lights when I was visiting Germany about a month ago. Now Im looking for the correct plugs so I will be able to build my headlight harness.
The part numbers I was given are
    4A0 971 966 - Plug
    000 979 117E - Pins

The plug is the correct number but there are a choice of wire and terminal sizes. There are 4.0mm and 2.5mm round terminals and wire sizes vary between 1.0mm, 2.5mm and 4.0mm. I'm pretty sure all the wires will be 1.0m or 2.5mm diameter so if you can work out which size terminals you need I can advise on the part numbers.

Here is a pic of the backside of the light and the plug itself. My guess is the pins look like 4mm

If they are 4.0mm terminals you'll want either:

        000 979 120 which has 1.0mm wire attached

        or

        000 979 214 which has 2.5mm wire attached

Can you tell me does the plug just come as one half (male end) or is it a set (male and female halfs). Also the teminals are they sold individual or do they come as a set of 4?

Dude, go to your local junkyard, go find a B4 90 and cut the plugs off. they are the same. however they are 1 pin shy due to the fact that stateside we don't use "city lights" however if you find 2 b4s you could easily take 3 of the plugs and use the third to fill in the 4th pins in the two you need.

if you really really want new:

ECS Tuning sells the individual parts but.... they just dont specify if they are a set or single items. Like do I need to buy 8 total wire sets to do both headlights or just 2 if they come in a pack of 4. If the B4 90 is the same I am pretty sure I know where I can go look with a pair of cutters in my hand... Thanks for the info

I try not to start new conversations about old topics, so am hoping someone has had similar experience can opine in and have it be all in one place

Like "Ruffiano" said cut the harness from a B4 90 or Cab and you're done.
