The recirc valve tends to usually just fail in a shut position.
It's mostly the various hoses and clamps that go.

For me it was the hose going out of the turbo, the maf-turbo hose (although that only sees vaccuum) and also when I dialed in 1.6 bar in my ECU, the old tired hose going into the intercooler burst.

On the S2 the recirc valve can quite often have a hole in it where it rubs against the chassis or the trim behind the headlight.

BTW a Homefry should give you around 1.5 Bar.

Cheers bud. Will take a look at that first when I get some daylight. I was in a prang on that side a few months ago so it may be that.

        Good suggestion.

Hello Chris, i also smell unburnt fuel sometimes on my S2, but also at the moment shes running fine since my last issue which you know all about. I've got a boost gauge now as i thought it would be handy, but have not fitted it yet, so i don't know what boost shes running. Hopefully i'll fit it over christmas and i'll let you know mate. Keep me posted if you find anything, would be interesting to know. Take it easy mate and goodluck.

Ive got the 1bar of boostitis too?
Did a boost test before and found the purple line behind the bulkhead loom split.

Still got the 1bar though so going to test again with some leak detection spray.

prj, like your idea of teting for a leaking bypass valve by blocking off the place where it connects to the maf-turbo hose and leaving the free end of the bypass valve unconnected.

My 710 is quite new just wondered if the 1bar is just a small leak or linked to something electronic retarding boost?
I know at least one more person with the same issue so will post any findings once the 2foot of snow is off the S2

              cheers

My Boost leak was at the intercooler - Do a search for the Mark H Mod and check that - quite a common problem!!

Usually the most unusual of places leak
This is why I very much prefer the method that pressurises the entire intake.

Boost can be reduced electronically as well if:
                    1) You have heavy knock.
                    2) Your altitude sensor is bad and altitude correction is not turned off.

Ok, so I was wondering if anyone has a boost leak test kit I can borrow? I have tried to get hold of Andy P but seems he is away and whilst I have a few clear days coming up I wanted to try and get this sorted out. I am in Hertfordshire and will pay any postage costs for someone lending me a kit.

                      Thanks

Mines has been a few psi under boosting but afaik the ecu limits back boost when ambient temps are low, and increases it when its very hot.

So difference between temps we are seeing now to summer temperatures over 20 deg c there is a boost difference of 0.25 bar or approx 3 psi

Not if this useless functionality is disabled in the ECU.
Which I'd expect a homefried ECU to have.
