The one on ebay appears to still have the ufo brakes, discs are pricey. Also check the condition of the wheels, those ones on my dads first urs4 developed radial cracks from the inside of the rim.

good news! well kind of!
After a 45 minute conversation of just explaining what the car is, what it does, and why its ideal for them, i think we're onto a winner
although i think it might take a few weeks to get round to actually sorting something out, rents sorting money out.
They have both read (step dads a gease monkey as well) the 200K+ article along with the rest of them and are very impressed by the car, which is high praise coming from my step dad!
I just want to thank everyone for all the help, advice and pointers, its been great! far quicker and more helpful than other forums!

The only area of concern raised by the rents about the s4 in poole is that it is getting to the mileage where other more serious components may need replacing outside of 'service schedules'. which is understandable and looking at ones with higher miles, but had had the stuff needing to be replaced, replaced that should be a better route.
S-Express's seems really tight and worth making contact with; reading long mile reviews of them, having a complete suspension sort out sounds invaluable, once im more uptogether and speak to the rents again and hopefully get the go ahead, we shall go from there
Im going to keep an eye out for avants for sale but if you see anything good post it on here!!

Busy for a month or two, but after that,

Have to admit, would love a urs4/6 more than an s2, but got to bite my fingernails for a bit longer.

Its difficult watching them come up for sale, and then go...


But oh yes, she will be mine.
