bloody peugeot 306 shed.Passed its MOT last Friday which was a shock in itself, however the guy mentioned it had overheated on the emissions test which i then traced back to faulty rad fan connector and a weeping radiator.
Went to GSF to collect a new rad on Sat morning, drained down and removed the old on only to find the replacemen had some wierd bottom hose connection.
Rang back to find they knew about this issue (fecking handy I thought...niceof them to double check when i was ordering it
)transpires that my early phase 2 has an older connector for the radiator than it should - parts bin special i'm sure, however they didnt note a chassis break or anything.
Spent the next two days tracing a replacement....then two arrived today

I've skinned knuckles, sworn more than i can remember and removed loads of non related stuff from the engine to improve access but due to the routing of the hose around and through the chassis leg, just cannot get enough pressure on the bayonet connector to get it to push square onto the rad.
In desperation removed the entire hose which is threaded around the bay and onto the block out of reach and line of sight. After 40 mins i had removed it and with it any enthusiasm for anything other than torching the bloody thing!!!

It shouldnt be this difficult to replace a radiator....forearms are totally bruised and cut
majorly pis**d off and thats before i even think of the A6 with a frazzled head gasket.
so 3 cars, two off the road and only backstop is the S2....oldest car, highest mileage and still going strong
the irony

EM is knackered, everything is toasted to trying to remove it would be fun alright
