    Hissing when off

Hi guys after using the car, when I stop and turn the engine off why can I hear a hissing from it? It's not loud but I can hear it. It's more prominent from the side where the turbo is. I have a boost leak too, dunno I'd that has anything to do with it?

Car has fluids in it too although has a small water leak so I top it up before it's half empty. Umm.... Think that's about it. Any suggestions why it's hissing?

No cream or smoke from the back either....

    Thanks
    Chris

I wouldn't know what one of them were if it was.... Or what it would sound like. Or where it was located.

But I guess it could be if it was designed to do whatever it does.... Hehe

It is hissing because you have a water leak, most probably, as the system is pressurised when hot, but you wouldn't hear it with the engine running .

              Fuel relay?

Disconnect battery next time you get a
"hiss". If it stops it electrical.

Mine had an fault a few months ago and you
could hear the hissing from the fuel lines near
the bulkhead. A quick clean of the relay connectors
sorted it out. (cant remember relay number).

Sounded exactly like a boiling rad at the time.

The afterun pump sends water round the turbo after you turn the engine off, it's located just below the inlet manifold down by where the dipstick goes but its plumbed round the front of the engine to the top of the turbo.

I suggest you take the headlight out and have a look, it will help with your boost leak test too

I chased this for weeks on my S6. Leaking waterpump it turned out in the end.

is it a 3B or ABY??

I have the same sound on my 3B and it seems to be coming from inside the car.
I found it's coming form the Airco unit.

According to the "specialist" nothing to worry about. It's the air being released from the "pneumatically operated" valve system of the airco.

Same with mine (ABY with AC) and only hisses if air cond is on when the engine is switched off.

Aby with no aircon. Will have a look and try losing the water leaks to see if it still does it
