Has anyone taken audi up on this offer?. I called them today and they confirmed that they are replacing coil packs on certain cars. The problem i have is my car is on a Q plate and there is no VIN number. I gave them the number that is stamped on by the dvla but this did not help. I was told i could take the car in and they would take some details of the car and send them off to audi to see if the car qualified for the work. If anyone with a 94 Aby has already had the work done could you let me know.
    Thanks Gary.

I told a mate at work about this a couple of weeks back. He's since had 4 new coils fitted foc to his '04 A4 1.8T (the car had not seen a dealer for the last 5 years either).

LOL (Sorry). *I think*(tm) the recall is related to the four pin 1.8t-style self-contained coil packs, i.e. the ones that do NOT have an external POS. Therefore this does NOT include any AAN, ABY or ADU engine with stock coils and POSs. Furthermore, it does NOT include any of the early three pin 1.8t-style coils that are bolted to the head. These coils have an external POS.

Which car? The ones you list don't appear to be coil-on-plug systems, e.g. the C4 100 V6s have a single three channel "wasted-spark" coil, like this Beru plug and play one available from FAP99:

                http://www.fap99.com/ShopByVehicle.e...catid=Ignition Coil&mode=PA

If you have an C4 100 S4 AAN, with five coils, if the engine has been converted to run 1.8t style coils, there is no way Audi should honor the warantee/recall because those were not the original fitment coils. You could try but I doubt you would be successful.

If you have a C4 100 S4 with original equipment coils, you would need to purchase one or more of these, and wire them into the ignition system (not plug and play):
