I've had a chicago pneumatic air gun for years, never missed a beat. One obvious advantage to the battery operated one being the cleanliness. Freshly oiled the pneumatic type will spew the oil out the exhaust. A decent compressor is useful if you're doing anything more than DIY work. You need 6.5 BAR to crack any decent bolt open. I often find myself waiting a minute or two for pressure to build up again.

What happens to gun if it can't handle removal of nut??

Would the gun kick round and your hands with it?

Are there built in safety features to stop you breaking your wrists?

Do sockets click on? The one I used of Rob's just slid on with no click to hold it in place.

      Cheers.

Nope it would keep impacting it .

Some impact guns have a pin that go through the socket and drive and held in place with a rubber ring.

I have a 18v Clarke one and TBH it's not that brilliant... But it does have it's uses...

I was trying to take a set of wheel bolts off yesterday on a MK2 golf and had to revert to a braker bar to get them started.

They are useful but don't expect them to be the be all and end all...

I have a cheap air one too but my compressor tank is not big enough to keep it running longer than one bolt at a time... I think you need a 50L tank min...

I've considered buying a Snap-on battery one - but the price puts me off for what little I use one...

Ingsol rand 2135qti. Simply the best .5 drive air gun money can buy. Not cheap, but the best thing you could buy.

                  I have a Snap On 18v CT6850

Brilliant bit of kit!! Outperformed the Ingersol Rand air guns we have in work!! Has removed bolts/nuts that other tools have failed on! nice to use- impact cuts off once the torque to get the bolt off is minimal. batteries last a good while and charge quickly. a lot of money if you only use them occasionally, but essential if you are in the trade- My mobile tyre fitter bought one for his van after using mine!!
Saving up for a 3/8 gun now!!
Buy the rubber cover as well, protects from everyday grease/**** etc!
Got mine brand new from ebay £300 all in- filled out the warranty form and had confirmation back from snap on within a day or too, so no worries there.

Look on ebay- plenty for sale from youngsters buying all the toys then not liking the trade and getting out of the game- I had an apprentice that spent £2k on a box, and gave it up after a year!! shame i got a nice new box, shall we say.... cheap.........:mischeif:
