Not sure if anyone else has received from VW, but if they havent got right details I had a recall on mine because of an injector issue which had started to cause some starting issues.
Now just had it in and they have replaced all injectors.
Perhaps this model has the same injectors as some other VAG 2.0 PD TDI 140/170 engines?
There's a long thread on the Passat owners site for injector failures. VW wouldn't admit the issue, but a few forum members contacted VOSA after numerous failures at £800 a pop. If you call VW customer services now and tell them you're concerned, they will book the car in at a local VW garage and check the injectors. If they are from the batches that have been identified as being suspect, you'll have them all replaced with the injector loom free of charge. I had mine done a month or two back. The cars that appear to be affected are 05-07 plates with Siemens piezo injectors.
I was watching the Passat forum with interest with a view to contacting VW about the issue as we have a 55 plate Passat 2.0 Tdi 140.
The only thing putting me off was the fact that it has 155k on the clock and thought I may get fobbed off, although mileage shouldn't have any bearing on a 'safety' issue. (The car does have FSH)
Last week we received a 'Customer Satisfaction Program' communication from them asking us to bring our car in for a free check related to the injector issue, so they must have got our details from the DVLA.
I'll be over the moon if we get a set of replacement injectors, but I'm not holding my breath.

Wasn't it Siemans injectors that caused so many problems with Mercedes TDI cars earlier this year? My brother tried to buy a new C class and they told him they couldn't even give hm a delivery date because the line had stopped due to availability of injectors. I seem to remember that Siemans were on revision 7 of the design, and it still didn't work

The problem is with the Piezo injectors that short out and cause the engine control unit to shut down.
The recall involves checking the part number of the injector, if it ends in an 'M' they will change ALL 4 and replace the injector wiring harness in the cylinder head with a modified loom.
Recall covers ALL 170ps golfs, tourans, passats (and certain 140ps passat), A3, A4,A6, Octavia VRS and Leons. All engines are PD and CR engines are not affected.
Souldn't matter on mileage or service as it is sasfety related and if you've paid to have injectors replaced in the past, hound customer service for a refund,
Hope that sheds a bit of light on the issue and good luck and don't be fobbed off

That's useful information!
Is it possible to check the numbers with the injectors in situ? (Mine's a 2.0tdi passat)
Can I get enough access to mark them so I can tell if they've changed them?
injectors on a PD engine are mounted in the cylinder head so youd need to remove the rocker cover to get access. The injector wiring loom connector is on the (transmission) end of the cylinder head it has a black round connector.
I had to remove some from a head on a 1.9PD last week. Without going too far off topic this is what i found on the oil way of the injector rocker gear shaft.
i found another thread online about this so its worth a quick check that they're still in if you ever do any pd headwork.
