Im confused too, Is this about things like the ebay tuning boxes people fit? Most ecu's are well hidden so the only sensible way to check would be by plugging in? Theres no mention of that though.

Just had a look on our NCT site (Irish version of MOT) and the list of changes for Directive 2010/48/EU dont really mean anything to be honest.

Luckily I feel the EU will be a distant memory by the time my S2 is up and running.

Headlamp cleaning device is only mandatory for HID's so if you haven't got them fitted your ok.

So the test will be more strict but there will be a longer time in between tests for deterioration, damage and wear n tear to ensure it becomes unviable to repair. Thus, as previously mentioned, encouraging new car purchases.
Why don't governments and eu knobs stop wasting our taxes trying to work out how to get more of the taxes out of us and concentrate on making the world a better place the feckless tossers.

Wouldn't it be easier to install standard bulbs for the MOT? 30 minute job once a year?

I have also read somewhere else a couple of weeks ago that if your car passes mot with the standard lights etc and you change them later (Modify) then your insurance will be void
