No, as in Walter Treser (only one "S"), the guy who decided he could do better than Audi in the design game:

Well it *might* have given GM the inspiration for the Chevy SSR convertible pick-up:

When I was rebuilding my Treser ur back in the late 80s I paid a few visits to Thompson Taylor where the Treser conversions were done. They had a few of these convertibles go through there but one had a funny story about it. It was a red one with full red leather and suede interior (and probably gold door handles too lol) and had been built for a Saudi prince. Unfortunately, when the car was shipped out there, via Dubai I think, the customs thought it was heavier than it should be be and took it apart looking for contraband. The roof operates with a switch via a hydraulic system consisting of a network of pumps, pipes, valves and rams holding many litres of hydraulic fluid all of which was lost when they undid the pipes to see what was inside.. Then there was a sandstorm and they couldn't close the roof, although they did try.. Needless to say the car ended up a bit of a mess and the garage were having a complete nightmare trying to get it sorted out and working again. Although it looks weird now, at the time in 1986 or so, it was absolutely jaw dropping and I don't think there was any other car, certainly with that performance which would convert from open to hard top at the push of a switch. Unfortunately, when they cut the top off, the chassis was so weak it had to be massively reinforced underneath to compensate and that, along with the hydraulic system, added a load or weight. With all the engine mods, cam, valves, porting and fuel system mods the cars made about 250HP and a decent extra wedge of torque.Last edited by newsh; 3 February 2012, 19:35.Comment

Also we shouldn't forget Walter Treser's input to the success of the rally team during those epic days of quattro domination!
He was head of Advanced Vehicles at Audi (the quattro project) and head of Audi Sport from 1980 on.Last edited by newsh; 3 February 2012, 19:46.Comment
