Curious one for you..

Small issue of parking on the road within my cul-de-sac and a slightly bored resident has taken it upon herself to take video of my cars locations both on my drive and outside my property and a neighbours.

I believe there may be a consent issue at play here as I have only been advised by a friendly neighbour that this took place today.

I'd love to drop a simple but effective note thorugh the door of the film director, having some insight into 'videoing without consent' would be useful.

Err. not quite! If its classed as a Highway and you vehicle is considered to be an obstruction, it can be removed by the relevant authorities!
You did not have the right to park anywhere in spite of your vehicle being legal in the sense of tax, mot and insurance.
Obviously its difficult to tell what her motivation is. Access and vehicular rights are fraught with difficulties! Depends upons who owns what and what rights others have!
That not a legal answer but had to research a similar issue for my parents last year due to abuses by neighbours. No Xmas cards last year from them!

It is my understanding that if in a public place one does not need permission to video or show to other pyblic members afterwards. If however the video footage is going to be used for commercial gain then a waiver needs to be signed to release the footage unless all identifying factors have been deleted like number plates. Google earth streets etc.... wen't through this issue when it was first released. There is a fine line but I guess you could drop a note along the lines of:

Dear xxxxx,

Thankyou for taking the time to show interest in my possessions. If however you endeavor to use your freshly acquired footage in any way were other members of the public have access to it could I please ask you to edit out any identifying details such as reg marks, house numbers, street names as you would be encroaching on my public right of privacy.

At which point you got no leg to stand on. Google Maps Street View is a prime example of what one is allowed to photograph without permission.

Understood! Privacy is only for the rich. Get a super injunction! How many people have their privacy invaded everyday by people using their phones to film.
Seems to me the real issue is why she is doing it! Probably trying to establish that the road is obstructed when you have room on your property. Could be something like the binmen not being able to get down the road, or indeed something like a fire engine!
Either ask her outright or wait and see what happens.

Simple really:

1. Is what she's doing causing you harassment, alarm or distress? If so, you have a case for calling plod to have her advised. This would be in the form of a 1st Stage Harassment Warning.

Just make sure your cats when parked on the road or pavement don't cause an obstruction - leave at least a good sized pram's width between car and edge of carriageway.

Was going to ask if they were relatively new!
To be honest a lot does depend on the status of that road. Strange as it may seem, often other peoples rights of access are deemed more important than your ownership!
