Cheers, Andy. I may have to take you up on that sometime. Although surely I'll get my own car finished this year.
For those that weren't there. The convoy moment involved me trying to follow a small group of S2s on an overtaking maneuver, including an oncoming car initially at some distance. But by the time I pulled out, put my foot down, got a poor response, realised I was in the S3, not the A3, so dropped down 2 gears, foot down again, wait for boost, wait for revs increase, wait for some power to appear. The oncoming car was a lot closer than when I originally started.
Not funny at the time, but funny in hindsight.

I know exactly what you mean, my polo wasn't the best car to attempt overtaking for someone with my lack of patience. Older and wiser now but starting to find my Alfa 147 1.6 too slow. I'm yearning for another S2 and being able to do what I did with my first one and overtake without even having to drop a cog!Comment

It wasn't that bad. I think it looked worse from Andy's angle.
It's the swapping between the A3 and S3 that catches me out all the time. Similar to sit in, but very different cars to drive. I almost always nearly turn straight into the hedge at the first corner, when I go from A3 to S3. The extra width doesn't help either.
I still miss the double kickdown on the S8.
Dividing and conquering queues of cars wasn't an option in that.
At least the Lupo slips into little gaps. But with 60 PS it needs to! I normally get loads of friendly people waving and flashing their lights at me. I always
and
back.
