Was a fan of the early quattros since very young, don't know why. My early student days cars were ford escorts but when I left uni in 97 I found myself in a decent paying job and on the hunt for a proper car. Looked at all sorts (sensible cars with a budget of about 6k) but always had in the back of my mind that I'd really love an Audi, but I'd never heard of an S2. Then chatting about cars in the office a colleague said to me did you know that Audi did a quattro with a porsche engine? I'll find out what it's called. Ok he wasn't quite right and when I saw how much RS2s were (about 25k at the time) I just laughed, but then stumbled on the S2 and knew that's what it had to be.
My budget grew and grew and eventually I spanked just under 15k on the first S2 coupe I saw (after scaring myself on the test drive!). A 3B ex-demo 91 model in Emerald Green, with removable towbar so perfect for towing my boat to sailing events all over the country. Owned for 4 years, loved every minute, and never since have I gained so much satisfaction and pleasure from car ownership. So many good times and my friends still reminisce about it. It says something when you don't bother browsing the car classifieds any more! Would love another but need an estate really and can't justify 3 cars (the S4's a lot of fun though
